I assumed he had joined Bolton, but he actually joined Hull and has played every game so far for them, apparently being pretty solid. I'm surprised as he never really looked like he would push for the first team here and is now 23...

Josh's biggest strength was that he was "one of our own" and therefore, seemingly immune to criticism from most on here until it was painful.

See also Myles Kenlock.

Kenlock gets more criticism on here than any other player at the club.
Emmanuel played for us a whole 4 times from May 2017 (aged 19) to when he left the club in September 2019 (aged 22). When exactly were we supposed to give his performances the kicking they so rightfully deserved?

Emmanuel got lots of grief on here as does Kenlock. Nothing to do with one of our own and if anything I'd argue that our young guns get more stick because the weight of expectation from them is too much.

Hard to argue that their respective careers to date back that up.

I don’t think either of their careers reflect less than average League 1 player.

And that is where we are, so they indeed back up my point, either would be a decent back up RB for a League 1 club, as we are.

Think Donacien is slightly better technically.

Think he made a few mistakes, caught out of position etc, but he wasn't given the confidence he needed with a run of games, all young players need that, it seems if you make mistakes with hundreds of leagues games behind you you are more forgiven than if you're trying to break into the team..

By, 23 Emmanuel had been a first team regular for a team that was promoted from League One and is now a regular in a team that's 2nd in League One. By 23, Donacien had never played above League Two and at 27 still hasn't ever earnt regular first team football at this level. He's currently sat on the bench whilst we shoe horn a 35 year old centre back into his spot.

Putting aside subjective judgements of their ability, if you looked solely at their careers to date, you'd guess Emmanuel had a fairly decent shout at being a Championship footballer during his peak years and that this will be Donacien's last contract at a club of Ipswich's stature.

Agree with that Strikey. I don't think we particularly nurture our youth enough and demand too much too soon - as fans - after setting them on some sort of pedestal all of which becomes all the more important when the club is strapped for cash. I think you also have to factor in that some players mature at different rates and how long do you take over their development which was too long in the case of Bowditch. In the case of Emmanuel, after doing so well on loan at Rotherham, that we should have hung on to him for longer.

Anyway, my basic premise is that our young players really don't get a free pass and to base that on singing ' one of our own ' for Luke Hyam is wrong. In reality that only got sung for him because PJ had loaded up the side with loanees who didn't give a toss.

It's an interesting question in itself because whilst Chambo has actually done quite well this season, you do wonder what an actual right back might bring

Chambo in fairness to him actually has some attacking instincts, we've seen little from Donacien in that regard. He actually looks deceptively quick based on the games he has played but he's certainly no KVY.

Hopefully we can get KVY fit again and he doesn't turn into Adeyemi II

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Always the case. Young players need time to adjust to playing against men. It is the first time they have played against professional journeymen who know what they are doing. As I have said before, all these lads can play football to a high standard, they just need the time and right manager to get the best out of them. Don't bin them off before you have had a proper look at them.

Very valid points.

As stated neither will ever sustain anything above League 1.

Donacien a better footballer.

The whole Donacien/ITFC story is all a bit surreal, there must be something more to it somewhere.

Emmanuel had been loaned out to Rotherham for the 17/18 season and helped them win promotion at the expense of Paul Hurst’s Shrewsbury - hence in the eyes of the tanned gnome, he was the enemy and that meant that along with everyone else who predated the arrival of him and his troglodyte assistant, he was to be snubbed/insulted/sidelined at the first available opportunity.
