Nsiala better than we thought? on 12:44 - Nov 15 with 1786 views | monty_radio | I think it's because when Nsiala and Wilson have played keep-ball as they inch up the pitch, Wilson is usually slightly ahead of him.

Paul McShane and Richard Keogh are pretty amazing too ( missed out there ).

You only need to watch him saunter slowly forwards, pass 6 feet forward to an under pressure midfielder who has to give it straight back, and do this repeatedly, to see: a) why he is in that quadrant of the chart b) why he is no Glenn Hoddle

Forward passes would generally lead to an attack. Passing around the back wouldn't count towards these. Hawkins passing stats from CB are hilarious

"Forward passes would generally lead to an attack" Why would they? If you pass to an under pressure midfielder who has had to come deep into their own half, I don't see how that is very helpful. Stats can be useful but they do need some context.

So you're saying Nsiala only scores better than our other CB's on passing because he makes safer, simpler passes?

Potentially but it's very hard to tell, all we've got here is a percentage. If Nsiala is making 4 of these passes a game (out of the approximately 8 trillion passes between the backline) and 3 of them are successful but go nowhere then you've got your 75% and it's still completely useless. Someone else mentioned passes that actually lead to an attacking move being a better metric. But at the end of the day, I think all of us having watched this season can probably conclude he is not exactly a marauding centre back by any means. And even if he was, his penchant for mistakes does not help matters.
