Home workers - heating on yet? 13:10 - Nov 16 with 3063 viewsDubtractor

I'm guessing a fair number of you are currently WFH - have you bit the bullet and turned the heating on yet, or are you holding out a bit longer?

Conscious of the eye watering gas bill I'm likely to get this winter, I've held off having the heating on during the day for now, but today might be the day my will breaks as its ruddy chilly!

I can't be the only one who just has the thermostat set to a temperature and let it do it's thing?

I don't really think about turning it off or on...

Yes, I have that, but also a timer for when I actually want it to kick it.

Currently the timer is set from about 4pm till 11pm, and for an hour or so in the morning.

Had a new gas stove put in the living room last week. Been here six years and the old fire was a death trap so we never used it.

Turned it on tonight and it’s lovely. Gonna cost me though innit.

By far the least expensive recent new addition to your house though.

Or you have a Nest system like me and you have the joys of it trying to second guess your behaviour.

I turned that off.

I don't mind it asking me if I mean to leave the heating on if I'm out (although it hasn't done that yet) but the learning stuff isn't needed for me.

I just set it to a temperature and if I get cold I turn it up then down. Annoying that it doesn't have a 1 hour boost option or something (or if it does I'm not looked into it enough).

Thankfully my home is relatively new and the insulating is excellent. I am in that lovely zone where layers and a twice weekly run of the tumble dryer is enough to keep the house at 20.
