New update on the Pfizer vaccine 16:15 - Nov 18 with 2596 viewsStokieBlue

So after analysing more of their data Pfizer have said the vaccine has 95% efficacy and has been passed as safe. They have detailed the % of patients who had side-effects:

"It said the updated analysis was based on 8,000 trial participants. Pfizer said in a previous analysis that 3.7% of 6,000 volunteers had experienced fatigue.

Pfizer also added that there was a second adverse event with a frequency of at least 2% in the trial. The US drugmaker said 2% of participants experienced headaches after the second shot."

So a 4% chance of wanting a sleep and a 2% chance of a headache. I don't think many will be unhappy with those odds or side-effects.

That would be brilliant if that's true.

So it looks like -80C to -70C is the initial conservative estimate and that the mRNA might survive hotter temperatures. However it does look like meaningful distribution should be OK in developed countries, it might be more of a problem in some other countries:

In the meantime, at sites in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Puurs, Belgium, Pfizer will pack shipments of 200 to 1000 vials each containing five doses in insulated boxes with thermal sensors on dry ice to provide the necessary chill. Pharmacies and doctor’s offices that lack $15,000 ultracold freezers can store it in the thermal box for about 2 weeks by refilling the dry ice every 5 days; once removed, the vaccine can be refrigerated for 5 days.

*Be careful out there guys - the roads are covered in sh1te, especially bends that don't get any sun so the mud/leaves stay wet :-(

Not going anywhere near a hospital at the moment! Will just load up the codeine and hope for the best.

And if my posting gets a bit dodgy in the next 48 hours, I'll apologise in advance.

I was told yesterday that any car/bike accidents due to mud on the road from sugar beat harvesting leaves the farmers liable....

Pro tip: never take codeine on its own.
Take it with a 1g of paracetamol and you'll get much more bang for your buck with it.
Oh, and take 400mg of ibuprofen three times a day as well, unless you've got asthma, kidney problems are are nearly as old as Facters.

Also: eat plenty of fruit and fibre codeine'll make you so constipated the whites of your eyes go brown.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
