Decided this place is not for me. 18:51 - Nov 19 with 33731 viewssolomon

Thanks to all of you that have been kind, fun and engaging. I really do wish you all the very best for you and your families and those close to you in these uncertain times.

Take care

I've talked with literally hundreds of people, including vegans and, rather more importantly, dieticians, doctors, allergy specialists, herbalists and several members of the Chrohns & Colitis UK society about it over the past 30 years thank you very much.
[Post edited 20 Nov 2020 15:19]

A friend of mine's wife had ulcerative Colitis for a number of years, and like you, she struggled badly and didn't get much help until she started researching herself and decided that she would train herself in that area and now she helps others by the fact that she has largely overcome her issues.

I'll DM you her details, I'm sure you have exhausted most avenues, but it might be beneficial.

I didn't specifically say you, although I will say again you would be under the list of posters who likely said some stuff that you would not now in said thread.

I have always said if I were to go to a plant based diet it would be for any health benefit not for any animal welfare benefit.

I drive a luxury car, with leather seats. Car tyres have animal products etc. The vegan lifestyle would be exhausting.

My position hasn’t changed one bit mate. As always, I’m a foodie and a decent cook, and am always happy to talk recipes and food etc.

My life is one constant inconvenience to do what I feel is the right thing to do.

I feel more comfortable in my own skin doing do though so I just get on with it.

It's ironic you flagged me for abuse earlier as that's the second time you've thrown explicits my way.

Remove the personal aspect, that I have sympathised with in the past, and tell me what was incorrect in my response?

You, like me, have a habit of taking things a bit too close to heart so I'll let the censored stuff slide. But not every disagreement or question thrown someone's way is an attack.

You seriously expect me to treat you with any respect after you called me a liar, then followed up by repeatedly baiting me over a major illness which has blighted most of my adult life??

And fwiw those utterly disgraceful, personal attacks from you to my saying I eat organic or wild meat/eggs 2-3 times a week are *exactly* the kind of reactions which alienate so many of the meat-eating public from vegans like you "spreading the word". Completely counterproductive to the cause you are espousing.

Now completely stressed out - not good for the illness which I was in a minor flare-up of anyway. I'm out.

I didn't call you a liar. You decided to take my comment personally and then continue to do so when told otherwise. Don't project that onto me, you choose to engage with anger at the front of your response, I am not responsible for how you handle your feelings and vise versa. No one is.

You've completely ignored my points. Carry on as you are then, I'm not overly fussed. I can live with it.

Bullsh1t. It's just Ryorry throwing her toys out of the pram because someone asked a question or disagreed. She goes in heavily with abuse and character assassination every time. Not the first time she's done it to me or other posters. She once did it to me because I politely corrected her on the topic of identity theft. Regardless of her struggles in live, which again I sympathise with, this is what she does every few months.

But if you wanna buy the gaslighting, go for it.

I've done nothing but politely disagree, which I'm entitled to do. Her reaction has nowt to do with me.

Imagine a subject you personally struggle with, then imagine if someone told you that if you did something differently it wouldn’t be a struggle and what you are doing to cope with it isn’t actually necessary and you’re wrong.

Imagine that person doesn’t know you well at all.

Now how would you feel?

I can ask questions of her diet and raise my doubts without attacking her, her illness or lacking sympathy. Which is what I did. Point out exactly where I did otherwise.

She turned it into something else.

Those are words put into my mouth, I just said I had my doubts and even lead that post with an apology for my disagreement. She could have replied addressing my doubts, but instead I got abuse.

Yet more outrageous lies from you.

There's only one person "gaslighting", "throwing toys out of pram" & spouting "BS" here. I invite anyone who thinks there's anything in your defamatory comments to compare our respective post histories (if they can be bothered) to see for themselves who it is.

Classic case of someone who wants to dish it out without the recipient standing up for themselves - but then when they do, you come out with the smears and defamation in an attempt to throw it back on your target, who's basically done nothing more than disagree with you that they can't go full vegan for medical reasons. *Medical* reasons. If you have medical qualifications, please post them up. The 5 minutes I met you for at one game does not count as a medical consultation btw

I'm just bored of this. Wasn't looking for a row, I just made a statement based on the idea that I'm sure there are ways you could go vegan. You are able to reply civilly and point out where I'm wrong. Or you can continually call me a c*nt. The latter so far hasn't done much to expand the debate.

I'm only smearing you as you threw accusations my way about lying or trying to negatively effect your mental/physical state.

I mean, my reading of it is that you received a civil reply, an explanation that the poster couldn’t go vegan, backed up with details of their condition and consultations with medical professionals (which to be honest is quite sad that they thought they had to go that far with their explanation) but you insisted that you knew better. Can quite imagine why that would get said posters back up.

Just my take.

Nothing of the sort. And you're correct, it's impossible.

That's not a dig at me to say that.

And that's why Ryorry's response was an over reaction.

Making out I attacked her illness isn't the reality of this thread.

Probably confusing due to my poor writing - no, eggs have never made me ill, I was trying to include them in mony's comment "if you never ate meat again" -

I.e. what I meant was that if I never ate meat or eggs again I'd be iller than I need be.
[Post edited 20 Nov 2020 15:12]

Ah.

In fairness to Callis, that is very unusual. I've never heard of someone having to eat animal products or they'll die/get very ill.

I don't deny it though.

Not really sure why it's part of this debate to be honest, it must be so rare that the people with such a thing wouldn't make much difference to meat consumption/the environment.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
