That's a stupid thing to say. The same was said about Bishop. Why would you bother posting something like this?

Because that's my opinion, and I'm allowed to.

I just find it an odd opinion to have, given, presumably, you're not his doctor.

He'll play Judge at RB. (n/t) on 11:51 - Nov 20 by TheTrueBlue1878 | Would do something like that. Went 4-4-1-1 at Sunderland. Holy Donacien - Woolfenden - McGuinness - Ward Judge - Nolan - Huws - Edwards Lankester Hawkins --------------------------------------------------------------- Holy Donacien - McGuinness - Woolfenden - Ward Nolan - McGavin - Judge Lankester - Hawkins - Edwards |
would reckon that if we play Judge, Nolan and Huws in midfield, Donacien and Ward full-backs and Hawkins up top, then for me we'll be looking at one of the least creative XIs that I can remember in a league game. Was there a game where we played 5-3-2 under McCarthy with Hyam, Douglas and Skuse as the midfield three?

Rotherham 1-0 at home, Leon Best. Used to be the benchmark for the ultimate bad performance but PRP went past it so many times it became an average performance

Yes against bottom of the table Rotherham who went down with a record low points. Seem to remember McGoldrick scoring very late in the game.

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to disagree with you there. The Burton game was the worst game of football ever played, both teams were hideously bad with tactics purely of attrition. That game was genuinely laughably bad, neither team even tried to play proper football.

We've put in at least three worse performances against Rotherham since that infamous 1-0 defeat.

3? Lots more than that under shambert. It isnt even our worse performance against Rotherham anymore As I said it would be average under PRP

Not sure you meant to reply to me there, I wasn't talking about that Rotherham game, I was talking about a game against Burton. If anything I prove your point that its somehow possible to play worse than we did against Rotherham that day.

We've definitely had several worse performances than that Burton game over the past 2 years as well. We've done an amazing job of plumbing new depths since Mick left.

Three as in three performances against Rotherham that have been worse than THAT performance against Rotherham. Plenty of other games against other opponents that have been worse as well.

The sad thing about that game is that I actually disagree, I've never seen a game where BOTH teams have have looked so tragically inept.

Nope its just generally when we play badly the other team play at least competently. That game both teams deserved to lose about 4-0. This isn't the attack on McCarthy you seem to think it is. [Post edited 20 Nov 2020 17:31]

Not suggesting it's an attack, there's just been a number r9f games where both sides have been useless and the game has been horrific. In the relegation season the hone games with Bolton, Rotherham, and Wigan were tough watches. Think we managed about 10 attempts on goal across the three games. Last season the Wycombe game was a shocker, the second half especially involved no actual football. The Gillingham game I struggle to remember either side testing the keeper. There's been some absolute shockers the past couple of years, that's excluding the ones where it's only been us that has looked awful.

Rotherham and Wigan both involved the scoring of a goal (even if its as ugly as Sears' against Wigan) so something actually happened. I remember thinking we were a bit unlucky not to beat Wycombe, and Holy saved a pen. I had (thankfully) forgotten about the Bolton game, but that and our regular boxing day performance we got against Gillingham were truly, truly awful games. For purely personal reasons they don't live in the same infamy for me, even though they were all basically the same game and were all equally rubbish. I don't know if it was because the pitch was garbage after the snow, the fact that day was freezing or maybe I was more expectant of a win against Bolton or Gillingham, I don't remember. It lives more prominently in my memories. I got past the usual frustrated boredom against Burton to a point of genuine mirth at how bad the game was and at myself for the fact this was what I'd chosen to do with a freezing Saturday afternoon.
