Apologies in advanced for the 'look at me thread'. I appreciate this is an entirely pointless thing to post, and there probably isn't a higher meaning behind it, other than mild attention seeking. But I wanted to apologise to anyone I've been snippy with recently, for any spats I've gotten into or if I've generally just been an antagonistic pri*k when it comes to our manager*.

I attempted to come off here for a few days, but realised that I actually need it more than I probably thought. I feel a real disconnect from certain parts of life in general at the moment, and a sadness with ITFC due to my feelings about the current set up. I miss feeling positive about ITFC and at the moment I just can't seem to. I don't know if that says more about me than anything else. I've been supporting Ipswich for over 25 years and I've never felt like this before. I miss feeling like an actual fan, not some pessimistic idiot.

I know to some this is just a forum to blow off steam, which is completely fine, but to me it's more than that. I try to carry myself on here as I would in real life and I don't think I've been doing that so much lately.

I'm sure a lot of you know that I have struggled with a lot of things in the past, and whilst I'm significantly better day-to-day, it doesn't stop me from having dark patches, patches where I feel like I don't belong, or shouldn't belong and times where I feel I'm not remotely worthy of having anything nice.

TWTD helps me with a lot of that and in times where I feel I've been losing myself slightly to my head and general apathy, it is a welcome distraction. Lockdown will have undoubtedly been very hard for everyone (and I've certainly, definitely been much more fortunate than most), but the last few weeks have really started to get to me and the fear of the 'new normal' turning me into the 'old me' is scary.

I'm writing this really for myself, not to get replies. I know it's very mumsnet and I also know that aside from a few posters, no-one will really know who the fu*k I am anyway.

Thanks Phil, Gav and Mark for the site and thanks to those who have indulged me and to those I've gotten to know offline from here.

* I have not been asked to say this.

Don't worry mate. One day Newcy will come home from sea, embrace you on the wharf and take you to a lovely little bed and breakfast to make tender love to you.

I had a dream last night where there were two teams fighting. I was in one. The other team were the bad guys. In the end there was just me and this bald bloke against each other. There were red exploding golf balls and normal white golf balls. As he came towards me I threw a golf ball at him full force which hit him right in the eye. He went down. I was relieved. Then he got up. I threw more golf balls at him, each time hitting him in the face but he kept coming towards me. I was standing on a ledge. This monster couldn't reach me but I was out of golf balls.

Bloody hell mate, I was only joking about withdrawing your POTY vote!

You're a great poster mate and we love you. Post as much as you need about anything you like x

Oh and if it helps, I laid awake last night worrying about my life and my future, wondering if the picture i've had in my head for my life would ever actually appear. You're not alone brother.

I read a nice quote once: "Worrying is like praying for bad things to happen." You need to focus on the good (or how you might achieve the good).

Lie down on the couch, J2, we have some serious stuff to talk about!

I wish my dreams were that exciting. I usually spend all night dreaming I'm waiting for a train or haven't done my exam revision. Sigh.

You certainly need not apologise.

You’ve always come across as a well meaning and well mannered poster, I’ve not seen any evidence to the contrary.

Christ, what a lovely lot you all are. Reading through these things have really made me smile, thank you. Too many to reply to directly without clogging up the board I think, so...

Footers: Thank you. A lot of detail. But thank you.

Keno: I'm honored to be given that response.

TTB1878: Agreed, we haven't, but that doesn't mean it can't be a good debate.

Homer: Right back at ya.

Superblue95: Yes. I'm hoping he'll turn up at my door any day now. Do you happen to know who said "Colin Healy made Cesc Fabregas look like Colin Healy"?

Guthrum: Very kind and true post. This is the only source of SM I'm on really, because it feels organic and authentic.

Moriarty: I haven't heard that before but will remember it, it's great.

Bluelagos: Thank you, it' been a pleasure meeting you on the occasions I have.

Eireblue: Either/or/all.

Herbie: Thank you. I'm strictly running '95 - the year the real chrisswailes came to town.

Paul: I do remember those messages, we had some chats about Oz (RIP) too I believe. Thank you, it means a lot and is very helpful.

Facters: Thank you, those last 6 words are very heartwarming.

PJH: I always enjoy our chats - hope to have one in person again one day!

Hoppy: I will take you up on that actually - every time I've bumped into you I've been in a rush, but it's been too long.

Dolly: Thanks. You're probably someone I've pri*ked at a bit - this is a definite PL truce.

Ryorry: Well remembered, yes she does! She's ok. It's embedded (no pun intended) in her day to day life now. Before, it felt like a tick (pun intended) box exercise to get treatment, but she is pretty level now and managing daily thank you.

Spruce: You're my video game and Quickly Kevin soulmate.

Dyland: Right back at ya.

Solemio: Thanks for that. They've been great to be a part of and I hope Phil and Gav are proud.

J2: Apology and nomination accepted xxxxx. Hope you're ok.

Clive: That's very kind, thank you. The same goes to you.

Thanks also to those who have 'liked' it.

That was probably quite cringe, but since you all took the time to respond, it felt right to reply too. It's really helped.

I'm off to start a game of football manager, make the mighty Healy my assistant if I can and get ready to watch the game tonight with renewed momentum.

Thank you.

x

Brother, I can not tell you how happy it made me to discover that there was a whole series of Quickly Kevin I'd some how missed coming out. I'm binging on them right now, although, it's a bit disappointing to discover that one of the guys who developed Sensible Soccer is a scummer!

Chrisswailes, thank you putting this out there.
3 points tonight and a decent display and the world will seem a slightly better place.

All the best CS. Life is just not the same these days is it? The idea of your "snippy" even moving the needle though is funny, far too much competition for you to have upset people I reckon.

Ain't nobody feeling the same about ITFC right now I'd wager. But think how good that first sniff of the Churchmans will be. Our day will come.
