I’d really like it to be Paul Cook, however I think it will be the Cowleys. I’ll admit I haven’t been a big fan of them, but the more I think about it, they seem to be the most realistic choice and who I think would come here as well.

Paul cook for me too. Can't believe someone said he hasn't been successful anywhere.
He's almost been a success at all his clubs in trying circumstances and that's what does it for me, he's been successful more than once.
Club Games PPG Wigan Athletic 155 1.52 Portsmouth FC 107 1.70 Chesterfield FC 145 1.61 Accrington Stanley 31 1.00 Sligo Rovers 145 1.58
Keane, Hurst, Jewell had all had been successful at least once and Cowley for me could be a risk as a one club success.
Cook I think is someone who could turnaround a mess and we certainly are one!

For me the best man for the job that plays the good football coaches youngsters and is prepared to give them a chance is Gary Monk Available and has done well on limited budgets where he has to work with what he has

Monk is a really good shout.
Another possibility if you are looking for someone who has a strong coaching record is Alan Irvine, who I think is at West Ham at the minute. He doesn’t have the managerial experience of Monk, although he had the Budgies playing some pretty good stuff there during his time as caretaker manager.
Got Crewe playing good football just without a cutting edge hasn't he?
The club we once were has a lot in common with Crewe in terms of bringing players through. Wiki also suggests Artell has been able to motivate underperforming players and turn a team from nearly dropping out of the football league altogether to a mid-table League 1 side.
I can’t really argue with cowley or cook. But my preference would be Michael Appleton from Lincoln. You could argue he took over from the cowleys and has made Lincoln even better. Top 5 now playing decent football. If he could get us playing the same way and we kept the likes of bishop, Edwards and one from Norwood and Jackson fit you’d like to think we could do better than his current team
I expect that’s wholly unrealistic for a number of reasons, but would love something like that if only to show that Evans has the appetite to spend to get the right man, and reaffirm that we actually are still a big deal - well relative to Lincoln anyway!
Highlighting crass stupidity since sometime around 2010

There’s been a few stories going around about him and an agent if I recall correctly. Seems to have been sacked a few times as well which is a concern.
Wouldn't be averse to the Cowleys though. In different circumstances I'd be up for giving Dyer a chance, but WAY too much at stake this season and I think we need a manager with a proven pedigree.
Do you think it needs to be a rush job though? We’re in this god awful league, but doesn’t that give a younger manager (Kieron included) the chance to build something? Wouldn’t a quick exit just lead to a humiliation in the championship with this current lot?
Downes, Woolf and KVY are in contract at the end of the season and we ca build a team around those with good coaching.
If we were to do it now then Cowley or Cook for me.
