How about Dave Artell? Got Crewe playing good football just without a cutting edge hasn't he? The club we once were has a lot in common with Crewe in terms of bringing players through. Wiki also suggests Artell has been able to motivate underperforming players and turn a team from nearly dropping out of the football league altogether to a mid-table League 1 side.

Turned around a 2-0 deficit to win 4-2 tonight. He can get teams playing and is able to turn things around. On the face of it, exactly what we need.
