....no doubt giving them an advantage to go for a manager willing to go into L1 ahead of us

Probably only an issue re Cook, if both of us are in for him, can see him going there; given up North, size of the club etc

As long as Evans is already sounding out;would have thought Cowleys might opt for us over Sunderland. Other candidates perhaps are for one or other e.g. Phillips for them, Dyer for us.

Think Cowleys would be a bigger gamble than Cook , but if it means goodbye to PL I would take either right now

They beat us to Jack Ross leaving us with Hurst. That didn't work out well for any party really, did it?

His could be good news... It might be what's needed to make ME sit up.
Game in hand over us, and only 2 points behind...

I’m sure it was reported Hurst was always our first choice and was lined up before his Shrewsbury playoffs. Might be wrong though

It was reported but there was a big meltdown because Ross was clearly also a target. I think ME probably was very confident he was going to get Hurst whatever.

The lesson is probably more that we ought not to be chasing a manger Sunderland are after at all.

Paul Cook really is the obvious one for either ourselves or Sunderland for me. They have the first mover advantage now, they can take their pick.

Of course they may have made their move now knowing that ME has been in contact with Cook, and want to make him an offer first.
