Lee O’Neill quotes for bangate and this forum 10:34 - Dec 2 with 20620 viewsSitfcB

What a to€€er, how condescending, “the forum”, it’s more than a forum ffs. It’s a NEWS SITE, with a forum as part of the site. “Fanzine” Phil isn’t a fanzine, he’s a journalist, writes for this site and local newspapers.

“We have a relationship with the forum, and the person that runs the forum”

“We’re disappointed it’s got to this stage”

“There’s been one or two things that have happened on the forum, that obviously the manager hasn’t been happy with”

“It’s worth while noting we’re the only club in the EFL and PL that does allow a fanzine to attend matches and press conferences as a member of the media team”

“The person we are speaking about is a fan of the club and works very hard, we want to have that relationship, but it’s got to work both ways”

“There are some issues we need to iron out”

“We are sure this issue will evolve in the next and up and coming weeks”

Have to say I don't like the last comment from O'Neil about it having to work both ways and having some issues to sort out. That almost seems to suggest that the club are willing to let Phil back in on the basis of certain conditions. You have to wonder what those restrictions might be and how restrictive they would be. I think Phil and the team here have always made good and fair decisions in the terms of what content is allowed and he should certainly be allowed back in and allowed to operate the excellent way he has always done for TWTD.

The whole idea that news websites, bloggers and fanzines and the like are not invited to press conferences and TWTD are the only ones in the League (and honestly as others have said, TWTD has evolved from a fanzine to a professional news site which it has been for many years now) might make for good Trump style PR for the club but ultimately it's a rather false narrative.

Previously I was involved with a media organisation who were content providers to book publishers, magazines, newspapers, web portals, websites and mobile providers who also ran a network of football website (some connected to Fanzines) representing a large number of clubs and I can tell you that there were certainly a number of the editors there that had access to press conferences and this was 10 years ago when online media was not at the forefront like it is now.

The club is effectively trying to spin this line because it hopes that the kind of people who don't frequent sites like this will swallow it and take it at face value to make them sound reasonable and generous for letting Phil in to the press conferences in the first place when they are not being reasonable at all.

I do worry that the club is viewing those of us on here and the media as the ones being out of touch and deluded rather than themselves and that's an image which obviously isn't helped by the lack of fans at games. From what I'm hearing and seeing through, it's far from just fans who frequent TWTD and social media that are unhappy. Not sure how we'd go about showing that to the club when we can't go to games
