You have to say fair play to Evans for emphasis on academy products long term 20:40 - Dec 4 with 803 viewsMrTown

Got a really good crop of academy players in and around first team now.

Doesn’t mean we’ve got the right manager to use them.

It is the academy products that keeps me believing in any long term project though.

He has been saying that for at least 4 yrs or so , it’s an excuse not to invest in the transfer market

I don’t think it’s an excuse, it’s his alternative to have better players than we could afford in the wider market.

Would we be able to buy the like of Downes, Dozzell, Woolfenden from other clubs? Absolutely not, miles out of our budget, but developing them young is a cheaper way for us to somehow level the field where simply cannot afford to go and buy these level of player.

Good grief.

You're trying to give him credit for something the club has survived off for years anyway?

It's what we've always been about, it's not his fecking invention.

We certainly used to be all about academy development. But lost its way, Evans has made it a key priority to get back to that.

Deserves credit for cementing the academy grads to long term contracts, protects the asset, protects the club, and we benefit on field whilst such players are here, and hopefully with the right manager can use them as a core to move up the league.

So yes, deserves credit for it.

Whats he done, actually?

Lacks investment on all fronts. Training complex a bit run down over his time.

Failed getting Category One. Ignored the community stuff for years results in our biggest rivals now running football coaching in schools throughout Suffolk and getting hold of the youngest talent before us.

So other than not signing first team players thus forcing us to use youth, what has Evans actually done?

It lost its way under Evans in the first place. Magilton frequently played Garvan, Supple, Price, Haynes, Clarke and Richards before Evans joined the club. It was only when Klug left that it went quiet for a few years.

That being said I am very pleased to now have Dozzell, Downes and Woolfenden contracted for the foreseeable.

I survived Ipswich 0-0 Burton

Except Downes has already made it clear he wants to go and Wolf has seemingly fell out with Lambert as well if tweets and likes of social media are anything to go by.

Contracts mean nothing , if you have a clueless manager and owner.
