Dehumidifiers 12:51 - Dec 7 with 2146 viewsjeera

Need to order one really.

I bought the mother a Delonghi a couple of years ago and that seems a good little machine but I wonder if anyone has experience. Hers has an ionizer setting, (Aren't those supposed to kill viruses[!?]

Only for home use, needs to be slimline and tidy. Up to £150 markish.

If anyone has ideas?

I don't want hot air, I want something to counter some damp issue!

Not sure if you can get them back in Blighty but I have one of these:

https://www.suntec-wellness.de/luftentfeuchter-dryfix-20-lumio

Decent kit with an ionizer built in, will easily dry a room up to about 20 square metres. We had a slight issue with damp in the basement over here in Berlin, this has fixed it.

Ionizers do not kill viruses only UV will do that.

I have this excellent unit I got from Screwfix for about 3 years which has been running about 50% of the time without any issue.

I bought an electriq one a couple of years ago and it's been very good. I bought the 20l version, but the 12l version is available for around £150:

I have literally just been looking at that model on Appliances Direct.

That one's a compressor and not a desiccant and that is what I am now considering, as in which is best for me.

I see they both have pros and cons but haven't gone into any depth.

Edit: I like flat lettuce's but don't see it available immediately here.

Mr Gorm's is a good price and the size is preferable but it is rather ugly.

I like the Electriq but what's it like noise-wise please?

Yeah I have a DeLonghi DNC65, I couldn't recommend Delonghi more to be honest, I've had it for three years and have never had a problem with it.

Yes I have to say I've been quite pleased with the one I bought before.

Typically just as I was making up my mind you've thrown that back into the mix.

Any thoughts on condenser Vs desiccant?

On brief viewing a condenser seems to be the one more for an indoor environment, (as opposed to a garage etc).

That's helpful, thanks. I'll have a look.

I feel bad for calling your machine ugly now.

Jeera....if the dehumidifier is ever going to be used in a room that's not 20C or above (i.e. not heated at times in winter) you definitely need a desiccant dehumidifier.

Condenser dehumidifiers will not move much moisture in rooms below 20C. However if always heated the condenser will work as effectively as a desiccant tone.

I have this: Ecoair 12L Dehumidifier, DC12, White

It's been superb and going strong after just over 4 years with daily usage in winter. It can be full (12litres) in half a day if we have a lot of moisture.

It has stopped all the damp problems we previously had.

More food for thought.

Thanks for taking the time.

Appreciate it.
