Anyone fancy an IP postcode related quiz? 16:23 - Dec 7 with 2535 views | clive_baker | Got some data in front of me so here's a question (or 3). 1) The IP postcode area covers most of Suffolk (including Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Aldeburgh, Brandon, Eye, Felixstowe, Halesworth, Leiston, Saxmundham, Southwold, Stowmarket and Woodbridge), plus southern Norfolk (including Thetford, Diss and Harleston) and a very small part of Cambridgeshire. Question: How many different districts is IP split into? So IP1 to ??? 2) Which districts has the most amount of inhabitants? Forget density, just absolute numbers. A clue, there are 2 just shy of 40,000. 3) Which district is the most Easterly No cheating nerds.

Anyone fancy an IP postcode related quiz? on 16:57 - Dec 7 by itfcjoe | Parts of Belstead were IP2, where Belstead Special School was is an IP2 area - showing my age here......but guess Belstead village must be IP8? What was Belstead effectively changed when Pinewood grew |
Oh do you mean what my Mum would call Belstead Hills? Radcliffe Drive/Monton Rise, that kind of area? Yeah, that's definitely IP2. Sorry, I thought you meant Belstead village. Parts of Thorrington Park between Chantry and Stoke are IP8, as is Belmont Drive, which everyone thinks of as being part of Ipswich. It's one of those areas we were discussing the other day where Babergh just dumped a load of housing on the outskirts of Ipswich and left Ipswich to provide the community services. Anyone fancy an IP postcode related quiz? on 17:00 - Dec 7 by jeera | IP4? I'd have thought Bury was around the 40,000 figure. I've lived in Bury IP32 and IP33. Also a few miles out at IP29. Ipswich and Bury for most inhabitants but Bury is split so I dunno which one. I don't know how many Ipswich is split into. |
BSE is split into IP32 and IP33, with 17k and 24k inhabitants respectively. IP4 is close, 36k.

Ipswich does get the tough end of the deal on this matter. People who comment on the amount of homelessness in Ipswich don't seem to realise that councils across the county place people there because it's generally the cheapest area for temporary accomodation; i.e. cheap B&Bs for example.

When still working, I regularly caught the 06.23 from Thetford to head to Sheffield, Leeds or Manchester. It had left norwich at around 05.55, and regularly would have a large contingent of oil riggers heading home. Even at 06.23 they were pis!sed.

Seems like several roads off it aren't IP2. You can look it up, as there are a few businesses on Google. Rudlands is IP8, Dashwood Close at the end of Quilter Drive is IP8. Not sure where it changes along there, but it's a bit of a mix! Just played around on the Royal Mail Postcode finder. 1 Belmont Road is IP2, then by the 100s it's IP8, then right at the top by Wilmslow Drive it's back to IP2 again! You learn something new everyday.

Must be the new houses where the nursery/church used to be - but very strange - especially down at bottom of Quilter Drive - I knew at Ellenbrook it goes down to it but weird

I'm wasting far too much time on this now! If you zoom in to look at the Babergh boundary it chops Belstead road in two just after Wardley Close. https://mapit.mysociety.org/area/2441.html Right, enough of that from me, I don't even live in the area anymore!

I was Chedburgh/Chevington and I think it stretches to Hargrave/ Barrow way. Dunno about the shape of the area it covers though tbh, i.e. if it covers Hawkedon etc too. Westley makes sense as I was around the Howard side for a few months and had the same. Heck knows, IP32 starts from the town centre somewhere I think and I had the same postcode on Hollow Road the far side from Westly et al.

I don’t think where you were was BH, I remember someone who lived down Eccles Road calling it that.....I think it was mainly called it by people who didn’t want to say they lived in Chantry!

Growing up in that area I was always told that Chantry proper only applied to the council estate. I would consider Belstead Hills to be Bridgwater, Radcliffe, Irlam, Eccles etc. But I may well be wrong!
