Am sure it is unrelated to her 60th birthday party that ended up in a break down of Tier 2 rules.

The hypocracy of slamming politicians for rule breaking and then rule breaking....

Although it will look very strange to many people when tabloid journalists are being held to a higher standard of conduct than the actual government. The absolute state of it.

Completely different situation but the Chief Executive of the FA recently lost his job for making a remark that was far more mild than those used by our Prime Minister. The FA didn’t turn around and say that he was being held to a higher standard than our PM. They gave him the boot.

You can’t be indoors at a restaurant with 6 people not from your household. So she broke the law there.

Then she went back to her house with 4 of them indoors. Again, breaking the law

Well you can if it’s a business dinner which I appreciate this one wasn’t.

Very silly and she’ll presumably be moved on.

Strange, but no bad thing.

The thing is, if she were to hold her hand up, apologise, explain she had too much too drink, hence the 4 going back home...

DC never apologised for anything.

He wasn't sacked, he resigned. That simply means that he, like 99.999999999999999999999999% of people, has more moral fibre than the PM.

That’s says more about Cummings and Johnson doesn’t it. If he had murdered somebody and hit away with it, it doesn’t give anybody the moral right to go and modern someone with the excuse that DC did it.

Too many people are using DC as an excuse for their own poor behaviour. People should know what’s right and what’s wrong without falling back on the DC excuse .

I doubt she will.

The Murdoch press have been simultaneously warning of the dangers of covid and pushing for a return to normality asap, almost encouraging people to break the rules. So Kay Burley is almost a poster child for this line of muddled thinking.

Murdoch has no say in whether a burley stays or goes. He sold his controlling stake in Sky to Comcast.

Agree with that.

With KB I think we need to fully understand what she did. Going home with 3 colleagues for a couple of drinks is against the rules, her mitigation being they were drunk.

Booking a table inside (was she inside and not outside?) would be premeditated and yep, on balance a clear intended breaking of the tier rules.

If so, I agree her position is untenable, whilst maintaining it highlights how pathetic our govt is that we are arguing a journalist should be held to a higher standard than they are held.

As I've posted on here several times, Murdoch has nothing to do with Sky. He sold his interest years ago.

I really couldn't care less.

It'll be a shame if the outcome of this undermines having more, ahem, mature women on the box. Women have had to fight for years to not be regularly replaced by a younger models.

One small point of order. She hasn't committed a crime, rather she has broken rules/guidelines, that in itself is not a criminal offense as far as I know.

No, they are part of the law now. £10,000 fines for it now too.

Not really. The irresponsible behaviour of Cummings and the failure of Johnson to take action against him shouldn’t give anyone a green light to break the rules. A journalist, whose job it is to hold politicians to account, has now compromised herself to the position where she can no longer effectively do her job.

IMO.
