I would imagine she had a fascinating life, with the people she knew and worked with. Not someone I've ever paid too much attention to aside from that Carry On camping scene as a very young man, will probably incentivise me to read some of the stuff about her as I'm sure there will be plenty devoted to her in the next few days.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Really sad news - loved her in Carry On and EastEnders, one of the true British icons. Will really miss her. RIP Barbara.

Poignantly sad for me.

Like many males captivated by her assets, that fleeting side view from Carry On Camping.

She performed the opening ceremony at a bathroom place in Derby Road in 80s(?) and someone I knew at the time said she was genuinely friendly and stereotypical "Babs" bubbly.

Why poignant?
My father has Alzheimer's and is 80 years old, let's face it, the countdown clock is ticking.

She'll always be Peggy Mitchell to me. One of those iconic soap characters of the time.

I actually had the pleasure of having dinner with her in a restaurant in the 60's, ok it was more by accident and it involved 10 people at the meal and it was purely because the friend who had invited us to his birthday meal was also friends with her at the time. But she was charming and normal although at that time the 'Carry on' films had only just started and she was mainly known for other film roles.
Then tragically the friend was killed in a car crash a few years later and she attended the funeral and was still an ordinally person no big film star approach from her even though she had become more famous by then because of the carry-on films.
