Apparently Unicef are "playing politics" by intervening to try and help kids that have been left hungry by his party's policies. I really hope nobody is still taken in by his harmless posho demeanour. He's an awful, awful person who treats the rest of us with contempt.

It's amazing we're going to let them do it. Any reasonable government would fully reimburse them and use it as a wake up call but it seems like they are just going to shrug and ignore it.

Truly impaired.

Sure, the Labour Party has had its' issues in the last decade, but the idea that it's them who are sneering at ordinary folk and not the Tories is quite incredible. Of course it's partly to do with cultural issues becoming more important to voters and the Tories' slick campaigning but it's mad that it's now an accepted narrative across much of the media.

Why aren't we using the power to recall to get these people out of office though? The law is there, the action isn't.

Recall petitions can only occur in a particular set of circumstances and sadly being a heartless **** isn't one of them

Braintree is a relatively small district. Its represented in Parliament by Cleverley and Patel. The foodbank is currently taking in two tons of donations each day and providing eight per week. Fantastic on the part of the community; shameful that there has been increasing need over the past ten years.

I would like Paz's views on this.

He gave them yesterday.

To paraphrase, it's either that:

UNICEF/The foodbank is mistaken in thinking that there is a need for free food because people get given a perfectly adequate sum of welfare and should spend it more wisely;

or UNICEF/the foodbank is playing politics to make Conservatives and their voters look bad;

or UNICEF/the foodbank should be giving food to more deserving and hungrier people overseas and not British people.

He couldn't make up his mind which and kept switching between the three soundbites.

Oh and he also said he didn't know anything about the situation, but then proceeded to give us multiple posts about what the real situation was.

UNICEF help to feed British children for the first time in their history by SpruceMoose 16 Dec 2020 13:20
It can't just be me who finds this both shocking and appalling? Britain is a wealthy country. There is money available for so many ridiculous things, but not food for some of our most impoverished children?

I can't even begin to get into the mindset that celebrates the unfathomable amounts that Brexit will cost the UK, but at the same time strokes the chin and gets the calculator out to decide that we can't afford to help our most vulnerable through a pandemic. Wonderful.

Damn the Conservatives, damn anyone who voted for them and damn anyone who still supports them.
