Written, produced and entirely okayed by Macca. Fist listen and reviews suggest his best in decades.

The first track sounds like Beck.

In recent days I've gone back to Mark Lewisohn's definitive Beatles book, All These Years.

The detail is incredible, the first book is nearly 1000 pages and covers up until the end of 1962.....

It's the greatest story ever told for me, and can't wait for parts 2 and 3 - has inspired me to start a new thread re the 5th Beatle.....

Mark Lewisohn has written a lot of good Beatles books. I'm a proper Beatles obsessive, got one bookcase which is just Beatles books.

Here's a few you might like:
Revolution In The Head by Ian McDonald is essential reading, tells you the story behind every song they recorded.

Philip Norman's Shout! is a brilliant, thorough biography. He's also done a very good couple of biographies of Lennon and McCartney respectively in a similar vein.

Hunter Davies' book is as close you will get to an official biography. He's also got another about the Beatles lyrics where a lot of the original lyric sheets are in there.

You Never Give Me Your Money by Pete Doggett, And In The End by Ken McNab and The Longest Cocktail Party by Richard DiLello all document very well the last year and break-up of the band.

Ringo Starr Straight Man Or Joker by Alan Clayson is a good portrait of Ringo, he had a tough upbringing.

Paperback Writer by Mark Shipper, it's like the Rutles in book form.

The Anthology book is worth getting as well.

My thoughts exactly. Nearly 65 years of making music and he's pulled of an album that sounds contemporary. With no outside help.

After a couple of listens, hat are your favourites? I'm going for Find My Way, Women And Wives, Deep Deep Feeling & Slidin'.

Deep Deep Feeling is top notch, Seize The Day, Slidin' and Find My Way stand out for me but there's not a bad song on there.

His voice is that of a very old man who has lead a full life and has been singing for 60+ years.
But then again, Johnny Cash was lauded when his voice was shot. And he needed Rick Rubin to produce him singing covers of other people's songs.

It has possibly the best use of lead-bass guitar ever... Amazing, simple yet different...
