How come the EU members can close their borders ?

Surely Farage etc could not have been lying to the simple minded brexiteers, about the UK not being able to control its borders ?

Yeah, weird isnt it.

I was sure there was freedom of movement within the EU, but obviously not.

We can control our borders, but not anybody else's.

And a pandemic trumps everything anyway.

I am not sure you can entirely blame Farage for the fact the Tory (and previous Labour) governments used EU regs, largely fictional or misinterpreted while in office as get of jail free cards they used to escape criticism over their own f'ups over a range of issues for decades ..... which ultimately led to a large number of people voting Leave, assuming they were making said politicians responsible for said regs again because that's what they were told by those politicians for decades. As ever, it blew up right in their faces. Nothing to do with the voters being simple minded and everything to do with self serving politicians trying to save their careers.

Remember when the Tories said if you vote for us we'll get immigration down to tens of thousands and then said they couldn't do it after the election because they all of sudden realised they were in the EU? It's crap like that that led to Brexit.

Actually it's not

It is the simple minded who were all too willing to swallow blatant lies, as with the EU banning hedgehog flavoured bananas etc

The one outstanding behaviour of the simple minded over the last five years has been their dogged refusal to engage in the discussion, choosing to bleat out vacuous slogans instead of reasoned thought.

And if the blame lies with politicians not telling the truth, then how is it that Farage is supposed to escape any responsibility ?

Strange how each EU country has applied different border / travel restrictions. It's almost as if they are actually independent, sovereign nations, but that can't be right, can it?

Not if you believed Farage and others with their empty-headed slogans

It seems as if their lies and misrepresentations are being exposed on an almost daily basis

Recent polls show that over 50% now think Brexit was not a good idea, and would now vote to stay in the EU

So why the hell are we sliding over the cliff ?

Perhaps because we don't have the strong leadership o now take the correction actin that is needed

Being in manufacturing all my working life, I voted to stay. However the populace voted to leave and we have to suck it up, no matter what we think. Arguing on a football website does not change a bloody thing.
