would make sense, 12 months would make more sense. Both us and the EU are in deep economic doo-doo over covid so why not keep the status quo until we're all a bit more settled? there's estimated 700k EU jobs riding on the deal... | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I don't disagree, especially as we're seemingly close to a deal that's in everyone's interests. If feels somewhat silly to 'crash out' based solely on running out of time vs a fairly arbitrary deadline. Business needs certainty, but if both sides came forward and said we'll maintain the status quo for now given the Covid mess and take stock when things are clearer, I don't think a single person would object.

The fact that makes sense, will mean it won’t happen. Too many in the Tory party appear happy to let is crash out

Nicola Sturgeon is putting the economy before the health of the nation by declaring a full lockdown on Boxing day onwards.

I think an awful lot of people would object. If Johnson was to agree to extend the transitional period without a parliamentary vote, he would be ousted by the 1922 committee and all of the other loons. What do you thing he cares about more, himself or what's best for the country?

A lockdown would be the best way forward, as long as they caveat it with plans on vaccination roll outs to show people that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

30 countries with borders closed is a dangerous score? The human body isn't designed to govern competently? It will be some waffle about thinking about maybe doing something if things continue to be an absolute disaster. [Post edited 21 Dec 2020 16:42]
