With the Northampton game being postponed... 17:34 - Dec 22 with 1118 viewsjudespiveyg

Luke Chambers' late goal against QPR in 2015 remains the last goal Ipswich scored in a Boxing Day game. Somewhat surprising and depressing stat. If memory serves all of our last four boxing days have been terrible performances as well.

I survived Ipswich 0-0 Burton

There’s a pattern, Boxing Day a day after celebrating Christmas , any time we have a break of 10 and over days ( including cup games where we rest everybody )
Any game on sky, ( Wigan excepted , tho they were in admin and disarray at the time)
Any game against top teams

In short ... can the players be trusted when they have a break ?
And also are they professional enough when it comes time to raise their games in big games.

Or is there such a lethargy , contributed by the lack of interest in cup games , that are also one offs ... and lack of leaders in the team that the players don’t care.

You pay peanuts you get monkeys, while we're paying them alright for this division we were hardly paying the going rates when in the Championship and thus have created the environment we are now in, even Didz said there was more pressure to do well in the Championship with newly promoted SheffU then he ever had in his entire time at Ipswich.

Shane Supple also highlighted a culture of failing to compete here, something Keane tried to address but ended up upsetting everyone.

The patterns are not coincidental. There isn't a driving force here pushing for success and thus we are where we are, even League One was too much pressure for some of them according to our own manager.

Guess you are saying we have players who fear promotion as they are comfortable in the league they are in. Sad but probably true.

I think you will find that's exactly what Shane Supple said about our last chance of promotion under BFJ. We were clearly along with Wigan that year the 2 best teams in the division and still blew it. I will never forget our goalkeeper kicking the ball into the back of Furlong, who turned round and said thank you very much and popped it in the net.
Supple said the players knew they would not get another contract in the premier, but get one in the lower division. Forget about the managers being the problem look at the players.
I am in no way speaking about the players now, more of the previous ones back then.
