Tier 4 for Suffolk and remaining parts of Essex from Boxing Day (n/t) on 21:36 - Dec 23 by StokieBlue | Sounds really bad out there, just read that hospitalisations are 29% higher in the East now than they were at the height in April and that Christmas day will be the highest day yet for numbers in hospital. Must be really tough, good luck, stay safe and take care. SB |
Over a quarter of our capacity at [redacted] is occupied by covid positive people right now. For context, at 8 this morning that's 111 our of 420 beds. At peak in April, we were hitting 40-50. *usual caveats about piss-poor testing in April apply here* [Post edited 23 Dec 2020 21:43]

It baffles me that there are so many people out there who feel the pandemic is fake, or it's not as big as it looks We are in a very difficult place right now and yes Businesses are hurting, but there is support available to help them it might not give you profit, no but it helps you survive

That's not how it works. You made the assertion that the science was wrong so you have to back that up with evidence. Lockdown clearly does work, take any country which has implemented one and look at the cases straight after lockdown in comparison to a few weeks later. The latest variant of C19 has a natural R of between 3.2 and 3.8. The numbers we are experiencing are after lockdown with an R value of between 1.1 and 1.3 (higher in London). Take some time to let that sink in. SB

Tier 4 for Suffolk and remaining parts of Essex from Boxing Day (n/t) on 21:26 - Dec 23 by BlueBadger | It is stretched to breaking point in hospitals across the county, nay the region. 'The economy or the pandemic' choice is a vile myth perpetrated by right wing tosspots wh care more for money than people. The plain fact of the matter is, if you don't control the pandemic, your economy will suffer more because you'll need ever-more stringent restrictions, things take longer to get going again, people can't work or move about because y'know there's death a nd misery everywhere and the knock-on effects from an overwhelmed health service can't be underestimated. So, with all due respect, shove your ignorant bullsh1t up your arse. |

Probably better to cite Australia and New Zealand who actually locked down. Not the half-ar$ed lockdown that Boris and his lot have tried over the last few months. As in proper, not allowed to leave your house, nobody allowed to leave the country, quarantine in a hotel for 14 days if you come in to the country or cross into another county/state, none of this bubbles BS. If only the UK was an island with no land borders so they could have done something similar...oh!!! The evidence would suggest that the scientists might be on to something.

How much evidence can be needed to understand that keeping someone who is infected away from people who aren't will keep the number of infections down? That is one basic point that cannot be in contention on any level.

Surely you can rustle up some Sun-reading right-wing Brexit voting pond-dwellers that haven’t managed to froth themselves into a ban yet. Whilst you’re mobilising the troops, permission to giggle & point at your inability to spell & punctuate as well?

There's some real low-lifes on here sometimes. Badger has provided some real in-depth, up close, and personal accounts of working on a Covid ward this year, and people seem to think it acceptable to insult the man. Only a few posts down from an emotional post which outlined the death of a man that day, someone thought it appropriate to take pot shots at him. Give him stick on any other subject if you like, but have some class for pity's sake.

Cos you're a known trouble-maker. No, I would assume it just got caught in a little crossfire as roughly half a dozen were removed en bloc. Not surprising that admin has better things to do this evening really. Personally I don't see why a ban* wouldn't suffice but fair's fair, Xmas and all that. *Again, obviously not you.

That's the problem with this government they are only taking advice from those who would have us in lockdown forever. The premise is to save the NHS but if nobodies paying tax or national insurance there will be no NHS,We cant keep hiding from this virus forever. I |
It's not forever. We're buying time while we get people vaccinated. By Easter the light at the end of the tunnel will be growing much brighter. It won't be over by then, especially as deaths lag behind case numbers but the tide will well and truly be turning. Look out for the Oxford vaccine being authorised over the next week.

"Look out for the Oxford vaccine being authorised over the next week." Developed by so-called scientists. I was out in the so-called car earlier and saw a bus driven by a so-called bus driver. I passed the Co-op and in the store were some so-called people. All the time I was driving on a so-called road. Some so-called posts on here do your head in sometimes. So-called head, rather.
