Shop bought mince pies are always better than homemade ones.

If you're going to go to all that effort, make something different.

Really? Aldi’s almond ones are superb but give me a deep, short, homemade one any day of the week.

Wouldn’t say that they are underrated as they are always there and part of Christmas. They aren’t very spectacular or exciting just plain and solid.

Didn't really take to them for a long time but really love them now.

I used to love 'em, then I fell out of love until last year when a friend from Dorset introduced me to the wonders of a clotted cream mince pie. Simply remove the lid and spoon it in, replace lid and munch. Works even better if warm.

I haven't been this excited to try something since I saw someone putting jam on their slice of fried bread. Which was actually a major disappointment when I tried it several months later...

It is a match made in heaven, J2. Although you may feel slightly sick after the first couple.

Jam on fried bread does sound intriguing though... And whoever it was on here who recommended eating hot cross buns with bacon, you are my hero. It's a delight.

The fried bread thing was at Pontins as I was leaving on the last day so couldn't try it until I made my triumphant return and reclaimed by junior pool champion crown.

Was that me? I remember seeing it on a Sainsburys advert and might have mentioned it here.

I'm sure others saw the ad as well though so not definitely claiming it!

I would be worried if she had a Dorset Knob, but then again she's also quite a looker, so maybe I'd go for a walk on the wild side for that.

Hot cross buns (or any warm toasted fruit bread) with lashings of butter and cold ham is one of my all time favourites.
