I think the main candidates were Jack Ross, Paul Hurst and Nathan Jones. A few others were mentioned and I have no idea who may have been seriously discussed but it did seem to come down to Ross or Hurst. None of those have covered themselves in glory since we chose Hurst.


I don't think Nathan Jones was ever spoken to. The four that were on the shortlist after the interviews were Hurst, Ross, Potter and Lampard.

Yes, forgot about Lampard - I never thought that was serious because he would only have come in with a serious transfer budget. Jones' name was certainly put about by fans but I couldn't recall who was in the picture. Potter would have been a far better option. I wonder how he would have fared but I also wonder how realistic it was that we could get him.

And Evans managed to pick the worst of the four. I'd love to set up a "Find the Lady" table, with Evans as the mug punter.
