Is 'superb' 15:56 - Dec 30 with 2311 views | footers | The biggest compliment a man can give something? Only sparingly used for those things that really hit the spot, like a well-done piece of joinery, a pint of fine ale or just some how's yer father, there really does seem no word in the male lexicon to beat it. Or is there? And what are some superb things?

The initial question he posed was... Is ‘superb’ the biggest compliment a man can give something? I was raising the bar on that part.

You have to read the entire post though. Only giving people the first half of something designed to have two parts will never work

Ok then, if it’s absolutely got to just be a singular word, I’d say ‘stupendous’ has much more of an air of gravitas about it than ‘superb’.

It’s good, but it’s still not at the level of a ‘stupendous’.

Is 'superb' on 16:05 - Dec 30 by GeoffSentence | No I don't think it is. Sensational beats it in most contexts, a sensational goal is better than a superb goal, the same goes for a bowel movement. 'I had a sensational pooh today' is definitely better than having a 'superb pooh' And in the context of food and drink, for instance, I think 'exquisite' has the edge to too. Superb is a pretty good compliment, but it's not a sensational one. |
Superb is a classier version of sensational. Exquisite is just too high brow and polite for me.
