He's not "flavour of the month" so he's easily forgotten but he does deserve it.
I don't like sportsmen getting knighthoods whilst they're still competing, I think you should wait 5 years after they've retired then look back on their career retrospectively and decide.
I remember 15 years ago there was a clamour for Beckham to be knighted - a lot less so today.
Lewis Hamilton and Andy Murray have both been knighted recently whilst still competing, you can't doubt their achievements, but again I'd still wait until they're finished then give them the award based on their careers as a whole |  |

I think doling out honours to sportsmen for sporting achievement is stupid, primitive populism. For Andy Murray & Lewis Hamilton, the events they have won is the reward.
However, the corrupt use of the system to keep backbench MPs on side or thank businessmen for donations to the right party is worse. |  |
