The Government are making a right mess of this issue. Again.

Pfft. I even put Gandhi to shame. I wasn't aware that lycra wearing made you more left, although I can see how donning fancy dress in public could mean you're more libertarian!

The trouble is you are quoting it as a 'fact'. Many economic concepts are actually steeped in theory (I did a degree), so it's not like maths where the correct answer is the correct answer (I'm sure you mathematicians will tell me otherwise!!). There are many scholarly sources which would alternatively contend that reducing taxes will provide a boost to the economy. The point is that your source is merely a viewpoint, not a fact. Albeit an interesting one for nerds like me.

Economic left -8.38 Libertarian -6.56 I can't get much further left on their scale and am pretty darn liberal too. Basically I'm so woke I'm practically a stimulant. They should really use 'Liberal' rather than 'Libertarian' imo, it better captures what they are asking about. Libertarianism is a political ideology and whilst there are variants of it, it is usually associated with right wing economics.

I was around -5.5 and -5.5, did it last night but forgot to post so can't remember exactly. Not sure the questions are perfect but it's always hard to make generalised testing like this. For instance, it doesn't seem to cover some major things like privatisation via compulsory purchase which might move me a bit on the economic scale. I always feel these tests tend to pigeonhole when in reality people tend to have varied positions on different things depending on the current circumstances and evidence. SB

It’s also a viewpoint on something completely different to what I suggested. The article is about reducing tax to the very rich, whereas I have suggested reducing tax to middle and low incomes

Is there any "real-world" examples of where reducing tax to these income brackets has actually improved their lives and general services? Personally I feel tax should be increased for everyone, even a few pence on tax can generate significant income. It doesn't have to be a massive hike, just a small one but the money needs to be almost ringfenced and used to do something so the public can see that the extra tax makes a difference. It would then make it easier to ask for a few more pennies on tax later on. SB

The Telegraph article on there is terrible click bait!! “South African strain could be resistant to vaccine” - scary thought. ...however, when you click in and read, it says a new vaccine could be produced in as little as 6 weeks!

Only a new mRNA vaccine could be developed so quickly, something like the Oxford vaccine would take quite a lot longer. It then also needs to go through the trials again. It wouldn't be ideal given the mRNA vaccines are the ones which are very difficult to distribute due to the storage issues. SB

Let’s hope that’s not the case. The vaccines have provided the only glimmer of hope for many people-myself included

I also appear to be in the back of the anarchist boat. Economic left/right 8.63 Social libertarian/authoritarian 8.92

along the same lines, if it had covid-related questions I'm sure most people would be considerably higher up the authoritarian scale (since lockdowns etc are authoritarian and most people support those, to at least some degree). Which, as you say, is right: politics should change with circumstances and evidence

A bit south-west of centre on the bottom left-hand box here - Economic Left/Right: -7.13 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.15 Guess that makes me a pink woolly sandal-wearer (aka Tory-lite to Corbynistas).

"Tory-lite to the Corbynistas" And the Tories would probably call you a radical-left marxist! I'm starting to feel that if you're hated by both then you're in roughly the right place!
