Really sorry for your loss, mate. I didn't know him myself not having lived in the town but from what people are saying it sounds like he was a top bloke. Thoughts are with you and your family.

Likewise, exactly what I was going to say, apart from the not living in the town, so I’ll just echo this.

Sorry for your loss, RIP.

What was his name please? My dad drank with Kempy in the 70s 80s so should know him. Doesn't have this or social media so can give him a heads up.

I used to drink in the Falcon with Kempey and Sladey in the late 70s early 80s along with a crew of us ,Jeff,Splurt,Enzo,Spider,Tyrells,Sweat Doobie and Southend(yes that really was his nickname on account of being from Southend!), are the ones I can remember On match day we used to get in to the Falcon when it opened at 11 to make sure we got our regular spot until Kay kicked us out at 2 .on the way to Portman Rd we would often meet an away following for a bit of "banter"!!!Happy Days!. I used to hire a transit van for a lot of away matches in which we would all travel. Sheer mayhem!!.I used to go to school with Kempey we were good mates and we travelled to Wembley together for 1978 cup final. So sad to hear the news of Sladeys son my thoughts are with the family RIP

Hi Budge

Hope you are well, long time no speak.

You missed out Mick Martin.

It's a crying shame when the sons of your friends die, crying shame!

Hi Spider

Yeah its been awhile would be great to have a drink and talk over old times when all this madness has finished mate.
How could I miss out Mick Martin?(my grey matter isn't what it once was!) a fellow member of our barmy crew! oh to be taken back to those halcyon days.

It was hard coming to terms with mates dying but when its the son of one of your mates that's just not right. As I said thoughts and prayers with Sladeys family.

Thanks for the kind words for both the Father who passed in 2011 and for my brother. It's no exaggeration to say in dealing with the loss of our Dad we were more than brothers, best friends.

I truly appreciate anyone who has reached out or left kind words either here, Twitter or Facebook. Genuinely means lot to see how universally loved he was.

Really sorry to hear about your loss. Sending love and thoughts to you and your family.

Didn't he used to knock around with Kempy late 70's/80's?

A sad farewell to a really nice lad. A genuine gentleman.

Remember all those names you have mentioned. Indeed, they were good times. The "Falcon" was a pub full of characters on a football day. Would see this bunch of lads at away matches or in a nearby pub pre/post match.
Had many a beer with Paul Slade in the Freemasons & 3 Jolly Sailors.

Also the pleasure of meeting Paul,s sons, usually enjoying a beer and darts in the Red Lion in recent years. Rest in Peace Jamie. A lovely lad.
