Grandchildren’s primary school closed from tomorrow. Seems not enough teachers, following Union advice, are prepared to go in to allow them to safely open.
They will permit children of essential workers to attend but only if both parents are essential workers. Going to be awkward if one parent is essential worker and the other works from home.

Should have done it the week before the schools broke up for Xmas hols. The priority should have been people’s lives and protecting the NHS’ ability to save them. All this nonsense about Christmas was just politics being played out. Same with schools. The rapid rise half way through September correlates to the start of the winter term. Add in an unwillingness and inability to enforce anything along with a large percentage of the population that just doesn’t care and here we are.
Ironically it’s not people like my youngish neighbours who’ve done exactly as they liked when they liked, visitors, Spain golf trip, New Year’s Eve party with their chums etc etc that pay - it’s the vulnerable people they come in contact with, if they contract this dreadful virus, that’ll get ill and possibly die. |
And the rotters next to me.... just constantly going out and having people round. And the new people next to my poor parents. Been even more hell for them having to go round to tell to shut the hell up on New Years Eve and there are 4 people round there having a party. There is meant to be one bloke living there. The Scottish government were playing politics up here as well. Closed us down and put us into tier 4 for two weeks at the end of November so that everyone could go crazy for two weeks at Christmas only to be followed by another lockdown. | |

Tough times. You certainly have my sympathies as a business owner. Businesses are certainly feeling it here. The ban on inside eating and drinking was somewhat workable over the summer, but now the weather has gone south and the fact that most places have little more than makeshift seating in the road...
