London is a mess currently

It's such a mess. We'll be in lockdown indefinitely, until such point as the r rate comes back down below 1.

Sorry to hear that GB, we sit here nervously waiting for confirmation as to whether building merchants remain open

They will, unlike March they will want to keep business, and more importantly construction going.

Still presents issues, I am supposed to have 6 staff staying down south London for second half of this week and some hotels have closed.

Depends on what they are doing and who with surely? I agree with you. Getting outside safely is very important. I've made sure to get outside everyday. Only thing that's kept me sane this year.

I've genuinely not seen anyone criticised on here for that, but it's possible I just missed it.

At least you have a wonderful city to wander around in?

Where do you head out, just around the block or to specific places. How busy is Central Park during these days?

Had a very bemusing conversation with the local 'blazing squad' early April which went along the lines of:
'Are you gonna shop us for all hangin' out togevva fam'(said in broad suffolk accent, natch).
'No lads'
'Are you gonna shop us for smokin' draw fam'?
'Only if you don't stop passing one around between all six of you. Roll your own and smoke your own please'.

It's also not a presser. He's just going to release a statement, which conveniently means he wont face any questions.

I'm actually making a rare visit to the office today, which is opposite Central Park, but it'll be dark by the time I get out of here so I'll just head home. The parks have been pretty busy all year though.

Working from home I've mainly just been sticking to our local area in Brooklyn. I did walk home from an immigration appointment in Manhattan a few weeks ago though, and my route took me over the Brooklyn Bridge. That was bloody cold but sunny, very enjoyable.

Honestly, living somewhere so densely populated has me envious of the countryside dwellers. In October we drove to a cabin in the Catskills and it was a deserted heaven.

My favourite thing about this lockdown is Johnson having teachers spend their Christmas holiday working out how to COVID test their whole school on a weekly basis or whatever, drafting in the army to run it, insisting that schools are safe (that's not the point, why they got away with repeating this is beyond me), telling parents to send their kids to school today, and then announce they are shutting. Couldn't have planned it better.

Yep, it’s my assumption they will - has taken us 6-7 months to get back in a good swing of things with work lined up and trades rolling from one job to the next effectively - a pain if it stops even for a couple of weeks

We also do lots with pubs so should be able to crack on with Some work that was going to wait

With my job I have spent part of last week and all of today working out how to manage all of the waste (as medical waste it can't just go in the normal bin) from schools testing that was dropped into the mix just before Christmas. There have been loads of people doing the same thing as me across the country, much like there will have been those trying to work out how to actually carry out the tests.

Absolute farce.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Sorry mate but you're getting carried away.

No one has suggested outdoor exercise has been restricted to an hour that I've noticed.

Not that being outside is dangerous.

It's frustrating for all of us but let's keep on track here.

Yep, don't think the 1 hour thing has ever been anything other than a myth. It's 1 piece of exercise a day that was in the official guidance:

Absolute shambles yet again. Mum's been in school for almost half of the Christmas holidays trying to plan for in-person teaching, only now to be told to chuck that all down the toilet because education is going back online again.

SAGE recommended this on 22nd December yet the government has taken nearly 2 weeks to act. Tories treating teachers with contempt, yet again.

The guidelines do actually say once per day. Unbelievably.

What's the point of that?

That's the only bit of the guidelines i'll ignore. Unless people can give me a good reason not to go out for a couple of walks alone outdoors making an effort to give anyone coming the other way plenty of space etc.

Truly impaired.

Maybe try to limit number of people out and about.

i.e if we all get one per day then averaged across the day it should not get too busy. Whereas if we can all go out 10 times a day it could be a free for all - far from perfect I know just thinking why it might be like that.

My best guess has always been that it was intended as a deterrent rather than something that is actually going to stop the spread - ie. popping out every 5 minutes or spending all day in parks socialising etc. Like you this is the one part of the restrictions that I can’t say I stuck to, often going for a run at lunch and then walking the dogs in the evening

That said that logic made sense in the Spring - I’m not sure sitting around outdoors will be appealing to many at this time of year!!

Yea fair point. I'll make sure I take that into consideration.

I do have a garden which needs a bit of work so maybe i'll do that!
