It's interesting reading some of the replies on that thread with regards to virus mutations.

Viruses do not always mutate to become "weaker", in fact something like C19 has quite a lot of scope to become much more deadly before becoming "unsuccessful" because it kills the host before it's passed on.

True, however the vaccine companies have said they can amend the genetic code of the vaccine in about 2 weeks ( currently they can probably do it quicker depending on the mutation) to combat anything that is vaccine resilient.

Longer term I suspect it will be like the flu shot where they look to see what the most common type of flu is in the Southern Winter to ensure they give the right vaccine for our Northern winter.

Need to be specific here though because not all vaccines are the same.

The mRNA vaccines can be amended because they are just a set of instructions telling the body how to make the spike protein which the body can then identify and attack.

The other methods, such as the Oxford vaccine are unlikely to be so easily modified and thus will likely take longer.

Let's hope it's never an issue.
