Indeed. I think Britain decided they didn't have the technology to drill the oil. Norway invested in gaining that technology and it has paid of handsomely. The profits are invested worldwide and the profits saved for future generations. | |

That'd be particularly unfortunate if it came from Thatcher with the science & business background. One of the biggest sadnesses for me re environmental issues is that our major political parties have consistently failed to invest in engineering, & in particular not looked to the future, esp re recognising the potential for renewables. | |
