That'd be particularly unfortunate if it came from Thatcher with the science & business background. One of the biggest sadnesses for me re environmental issues is that our major political parties have consistently failed to invest in engineering, & in particular not looked to the future, esp re recognising the potential for renewables. |
We are a big player in petro-chemicals, and oil and gas engineering. (can't comment for back in the 80's though).
Have you seen the project for the world's biggest windfarm at Dogger Bank? If not have a read it's really impressive. Its a joint-venture with other international energy firms due to the immense amount of capital required. | | | |

We are a big player in petro-chemicals, and oil and gas engineering. (can't comment for back in the 80's though).
Have you seen the project for the world's biggest windfarm at Dogger Bank? If not have a read it's really impressive. Its a joint-venture with other international energy firms due to the immense amount of capital required. |
It's probably exactly because we have been "big players" in petro-chemicals, and oil and gas engineering that we didn't invest in renewable techs as we could & should have done - most of Cameron's cabinet members (or their families) were big shareholders, amd/or held positions in global oil/gas corps + the financial institutions that supported them. | |
