post here the positive things that come out of lockdown ( come on, lets try and counteract all the negativity) you can always ignore it if you think that its just smugness,
I'll start. I eat better at home, than when I'm in the office, and I exercise more consistently.
Amidst the general frustrations these are all positives:
- Fitness, walked an average of at least 10kn per day each month since May. I always walked a lot anyway but made that a goal forcing me out when I can't quite be bothered.
- Awareness of nature. Sounds a bit trite but coupled with the above I've spent more time thinking about the natural world why I don't remember the names of trees and birds that I did as a child. Just something that adds a bit more satisfaction to life and whilst writing this I looked out of the window and saw a goldfinch (I had to look it up mind hence the picture below).
- Cooking. I had got a bit lazy, cooking odd things and generally eating healthily but have tried to vary what I cook. Plenty more of that I can do but having more time at home has helped.
- Reading. Again, something I did a lot anyway but I've made the effort to re-read a lot of books I have and vary what I read. Easier to read bigger books when I'm not carting it around.
- WFH. Until March, I didn't think my job could be done from home (mainly due to the interaction with colleagues and the semi-formal being more useful that the structured) but we've shown it can at least part of the time. That changes working patterns and probably leads me to change my thinking about where I live as a split week looks likely. The next challenge would be to make that work when half the wider team are WFH and half in office. (This isn't so much my achievement obviously but it's a big positive).

You can spend all day sitting in yer pants smoking weed while pretending to be working from home (so a friend tells me)
If I've managed to have a shower by midday I now class that as being 'professional'. Then it's just a hop, skip and jump till beer o'clock. Happy days.

So by now you must have reached a point about 100km south of Rome. Where are you planning to head for finally?

What time do you fit the after-mid-morning-spliff nap in?
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa
I live a mile from the station and the office is a mile from Kings x - so i usually get 4 miles brisk walking a day before i do anything else (also do running) so missing that but replacing to a degree with running with Lady F (slower but beneficial) and dog walking thankfully. Lucky to have some good country walks near us as well without needing car at all.

Financially I worked out with the wife a couple of months back that we saved c£8k through the year - boosted massively by several months not paying nursery fees, travelling, going out costs etc. Extra saving plus stamp duty freeze enabled us to increase the budget significantly when we moved in November, from what we had been expecting
On an emotional level, having our boy here rather than nursery for those months and spending more time with him was great - although I do have a small worry about a lasting social impact from not seeing other children. As good as that was however I’m glad nursery is staying open this time around
Obviously recognise that we’ve been quite fortunate with both me and my wife continuing to work fully from home even whilst the boy has been here - and that others haven’t been so fortunate
Been fortunate with regards to work and enjoyed the furlough break I had, everything seems to be on an even keel again which is good.
We've got the house mostly finished now after being here 5 years, now need to convert my shed to a an outdoor living space so trying to sort that.
We seem to spend more being in lockdown than out of it somehow, guess it shows we don't get out much! But great spending more time with kids as both too young for school.
EDIT - As per Healys post, we continued paying nursery fees into account, so have effectively saved a few grand that way as we pay £110 a week into that - and means we will see that the other side when we can stop paying earlier
Bittersweet one. But during a pandemic when my business and personal finances have taken an absolute hammering that I’ve just had to take on the chin, it’s been an opportunity to re-evaluate a lot. From the day-to-day stuff to the bigger picture.
And stripping most of that down, you get a very clear idea that none of this is important as your friends, family and everybody’s health.
Having said that, I’m also really aware that I’m lucky to have coped financially. There are an awful lot of people out there who haven’t and who will face years of financial/job worries. So of course there needs to be a certain level of security and hope to not have these more pressing thoughts and fears dominate.

Most of this isn’t lockdown related, it’s the fact that companies which have for too long given no sh*ts about their employee’s welfare are now being forced to implement working from home, which really should have become the norm when email was invented. Hopefully people will resist any attempts to reinstate the office by default after this.
As far as actual positive things about lockdown itself, I’ve drawn a blank.

Not spending four days and three nights a week away from home and saving the money that was costing. I’m also able to play my drums whenever I want rather than just at weekends.
It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.
