I went on that zoom call when he taalked to the denizens of the Ipswich area. Came out of it with a bit of man crush.

Kind of ironic really that you think he looks like a neo-nazi and yet it was his predecessor who hated Jews..

He didn't that time. I think it was a cozy sitting room situation if I recall correctly.

Funny how a bit of nationalistic imagery can turn an Internationalist on so much!

It's mad that people actually think that the Labour leader standing in front of the flag of the country he wants to lead somehow makes him a National Front/Britain First wannabe

"Yeah, we get it, Keir. You’re a patriot & you’d drape yourself in the butchers apron if it meant you could get to be PM, one day. Screw the history of empire, screw the bloodshed & violence, screw education, screw Black Lives Matter. No surrender."

Cos that's not at all over the top.

We are British at the end of the day, and it is ok to refer to your own country by its name and identity.

I don't understand the dismay at anyone wanting to celebrate a bit of culture in the way Corbyn suggested to be honest, any more than I'd have a problem with anyone celebrating culture in whatever form.

The flag itself isn't responsible, nor representative of a colonial past, only the people who made it happen and benefited from it. And those prats who still hark back with some kind of fondness of course.

But I'm not going to pretend to be ashamed of my homeland because of the actions of people I've never met nor have any association with.

We sure as hell, apart from a few loons admittedly, aren't in the realms of many nations who drag the flag out at every opportunity.

It's an excellent book. It's part autobiography, part political thinking from the Bard of Barking.
Good early chapter about his ancestors who are buried at Woolpit.
