Wow, that is staggering and frightening. I hope people are obeying the rules now.

That’s entirely consistent with the ratio of staff I have currently got off confirmed with it. There is a lot of ppl for whom this is suddenly becoming ‘real’ seemingly for the first time. As you say, hopefully it shifts behaviour. Judging by the general business of a local town centre today I am not convinced.

Just been having a ‘discussion’ with a couple of BA pilots who are still claiming this is basically all false and why bother with lockdowns etc.

Utterly ridiculous.

You would think that flying planes of the size they do, and the responsibility that goes with it, that there would be at least an element of intelligence involved.

I wonder what the budget airline pilots think in comparison.

Epidemiologists don't fly commercial airliners, pilots don't analyse pandemics.

That seems to be the way forward.

Just a couple days I was staggered to read the UK had 50k cases a day. Today it was up to 60k. Things are getting real serious real quick.

Not a huge surprise that the pilots whose income is dependent on international travel would have a desire for it not to be serious as well. There must be far less risk in the cockpit than the rest of the plane too.

But any intelligent person should be able to understand the science regardless of the effect it has on their personal conditions.

From what he has said they clearly don't understand it or don't want to understand it.

I would suspect not wanting to and maybe wish to spread the news they want others to hear. What does it matter to them if a few hundred thousand more die as long as their job is secure? Or am I being too cynical?

Further, intelligence does not always correlate with any level of scientific understanding. Try watching Paxman on University Challenge if you haven't seen that!

I'm a religious watcher of University Challenge, actually just caught up with last nights episode tonight!

If your first paragraph is true then that simply makes them t*ssers. I'd prefer not to make that assumption just yet.

Part of reason we've had the massive growth in the Eastern region that we've had is down to the fact that Norfolk family bubbles encompass several thousand people each.
