Googled "striding edge" the other day. Looks fookin mental!

It’s an amazing scramble when conditions allow.

Not to be attempted in winter condition without the proper kit and experience. Doesn’t stop idiots going up there in trainers and jeans every year though.

Got a mate who climbs, he lives in Grange over sands so hopefully when the world is back to normal he'll be up for taking me up there. He said it can be proper dangerous if it's windy.

Yes indeed, always a good idea to check the forecast!

Sounds like he knows the area but feel free to message if you want any other advice.

Grange prom can also get bloody windy! Hopefully the lido there will reopen at some point, amazing place.

Added bonus, there's some well tasty roads for motorbiking too!

Go up via Striding Edge then back via Swirrel Edge. Great walk, manic in summer.

Quite, I can't see how as many as 8 would be acceptable, even more so without distancing!

That's just irresponsible.

I can see the opportunity for a park game there though; maybe a bit of mum and pram racing. I'd watch that right now.

They could use what's left of the old racing circuit maybe?

Helvellyn has been bonkers over the last few weeks, not sure how the MR teams keep their calm with some of the idiots they have to deal with.

Much quieter this week, I’m sure the snow will have some out over the weekend though!

People don't learn..

My old maths teacher was a MR man, the number of times he had to leave us to "get on with the work" whilst he was called out to rescue!!

Enjoy the weekend snow - will be back in Cumbria in a few weeks - simply as my old man hasn't long left

I actually agree with the fines. Should be more and people might actually stay home.

I must admit in Carlisle there has been a lot of moaning about people going to Keswick for the day out, bit thats because its 30 miles, there is smaller tows to walk around / plenty of parks and the sheer amount of people were causing issues for locals

Plus the idiots thinking they once went Fell walking aged 19 in June 1978 and they can take a flask and a raincoat up Striding Edge in January!!!

Skiddaw is my fave.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Really?

Amazing views from the top but a bit too much of a slog to get there in my book.

It's really wild. Usually has awful weather. I sometimes stay at Ravenstone Manor. You can run from the car park, up Dodd wood, over Carl Side, steep scree up Skiddaw and then smash down Long Side and Ullock Pike. 3.5k feet of elevation in 10k. Brutal but absolutely amazing fell running.

I like a loop around Cats Bells too but my word it can get busy. So you have to go at like 6am.

I have a 20k route around the Edale Skyline too in the Peaks. That's a brute going up the other side of Mam Tor 15k in.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

That is brutal indeed!

I do like a ramble up Dodd on a summer evening if I’m working up that way I have to say.

Catbells is a great family walk but like you say, prepare to queue!

You're allowed to do that, as long as you have a child under 5 with you.

Informal 'meet-ups' like that are permitted.

Really? I'm amazed if that's true. I thought you could only meet with one other person from outside your household. If it's a free-for-all if you have a small child with you then that's mental.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Think that Blencathra is a more rewarding hike if you're up that end above Keswick. Sharp Edge is "interesting" going down. Went up via Halls Fell Ridge near Threlkeld the last time i was up there. That was fun.
