Surely only 2 mums? | |

Quite, I can't see how as many as 8 would be acceptable, even more so without distancing! That's just irresponsible. I can see the opportunity for a park game there though; maybe a bit of mum and pram racing. I'd watch that right now.

A bit of a grey area it appears. There are certainly 'official' council backed groups in East Cambs that are meeting outdoors in parks with children.

The way I look at it whenever I see more than a couple of people chatting outside is that it is still 99% better than if they were chatting inside (at a cafe or someone's house) Habits have changed massively and it's easy to kid ourselves that rule breaking is going on more than it is. Really good bit on C4 news from a behavioural scientist the other day saying exactly that, how we over estimate rule breaking enormously due to people sharing their observations. Who ever posts that they went out and saw people behaving sensibly?

Someone told me yesterday about having an under 1 being a loop hole in the legislation. Had assumed it was something from FB rather than true. (They told me it was cos BJ had an under one year old and was so he could do whatever he wanted - at which point I stopped listening)

To be fair not many areas have the peak district and people decide to set up camp from all over the country. The amount of people thinking it is OK to descend on the beauty spots from places like London is ridiculous

It is ridiculous but unless it’s explicitly against the law then it’s really not up to local police to be fining people. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I don't disagree, but what has that got to do with people traveling 5 miles to access a countryside walk?

Because it is against the rules? They aren't supposed to be leaving their local village unless there is no open space there and they are from Ashby so that isn't the case. They have also crossed a county border to get there albeit it not far [Post edited 8 Jan 2021 14:50]

Police can only enforce laws. If you read the link in the OP a lawyer explains some of the problems with what the police did. And for crossing a county border, I did that 4 times on my walk yesterday. Why on earth you think that is a matter for the police I have no idea.

Ashby-de-la-Zouche has a lovely park. But, yeah agreed. Despite them looking like Barbie dolls, it seems they've been a bit hard done by here. Couldn't they have said they were applying their common sense as encouraged to by the PM. Or driving to a local beauty spot to test their eyesight?

Rather like the Diana effect. 90% of the population probably didn't sign a book of condolence or leave a floral tribute.

It’s so obvious now – we should have left the management of the pandemic to God. No PPE or vaccine needed just faith. Bloody science. Grrrrr.

Ok but I was looking for a bit of input on the mum, baby and pram race idea tbh. I'd lost interest in the original story. I was thinking along the lines of an It's A Knockout type thing. Maybe clown shoes with obstacles...

Derbyshire police playing up again on 14:08 - Jan 8 by m14_blue | I’m confused by this, the police up here (Cumbria) have been quite clear that there are no enforceable laws around travelling to exercise. Effectively, there is no action that could be taken against someone coming from London to the Lakes for a walk. It’s a source of much frustration to the police here who have petitioned Government to specify what is meant by the guidelines and make them legally enforceable. |
I must admit in Carlisle there has been a lot of moaning about people going to Keswick for the day out, bit thats because its 30 miles, there is smaller tows to walk around / plenty of parks and the sheer amount of people were causing issues for locals Plus the idiots thinking they once went Fell walking aged 19 in June 1978 and they can take a flask and a raincoat up Striding Edge in January!!!

Helvellyn has been bonkers over the last few weeks, not sure how the MR teams keep their calm with some of the idiots they have to deal with. Much quieter this week, I’m sure the snow will have some out over the weekend though!
