How are we still playing make shift wingers??? 22:50 - Jan 9 with 571 viewskizaitfc

It has been obvious for years we have needed an out and out winger yet our squad is depleted of them.

Better to play a formation that doesn't use them

For all the talk of Jackson and Dozzell being poor.

Jackson cross created a goal and Dozzell was the only person trying to create.

Good wingers are hard to get for no money.

Also, nobody seems to be trained to run with the ball any more. It's all just quick little passes, which defeats the whole object of a winger.

Because teams nowadays use their fullbacks as ersatz wingers, there is a need to pack the midfield with defensive as well as attacking players, to protect the CBs. Only leaving numbers for one up top, which is not enough. So they make it a nominal three, by "promoting" the wingers, who are now in the wrong place to connect defence and attack. Such a system might work with the top quality players at the upper end of the Prem, Bundesliga, in Paris or at Barca/Madrid, not so much so in League One. Better to go with something more basic and get it functioning well.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Typical Ipswich, the modern game is all about energetic full backs and what do we have - two OAP's at the end of their careers?
