Evans says playing the style we do is “non negotiable” on 12:04 - Jan 10 with 2465 views | MrTown | Evans is loving the prospect of us ending up like Barcelona now he has seen the ‘green shoots’. Evans needs his head wobbling, we don’t have a coach as good as Pep Guardiola in charge, in fact, we don’t have a coach as good as Peppa Pig in charge. I think it shows his ‘footballing acumen’ when he still believes that Paul Lambert is the right man to take ITFC forward. A circus act.

I'm wondering who is actually running the team, as it seems to be Evans dictating the playing style. And Lambert refusing to move from it, perhaps on principle.

Evans says playing the style we do is “non negotiable” on 12:28 - Jan 10 with 2262 views | LankHenners | In his mind he thinks if the team plays attractive football the fans will be happy because he heard 'Mick McCarthy your football is sh1t' being belted out from the stands, and, in one of the most embarrassing events in recent history, sung in unison with Norwich fans at Carrow Road, during the end of Mick's tenure. He also worked out that Lambert deciding the line-up using a tombola was detrimental to the team's results so enforced this vague 'style' over the summer. Problem is the manager is clueless as to how to do it (or anything else for that matter) effectively and Evans himself doesn't really know anything either. In a way, or at least until his stupid open letter, I felt a bit sorry for him as he's clearly out of his depth but is trying his best but failing and struggling so felt he had to lay down some ground rules in the hope of turning it around. Unfortunately it's never a good combination to be simultaneously stubborn and ignorant, which is what we have here.

Evans says playing the style we do is “non negotiable” on 12:29 - Jan 10 with 2240 views | nodge_blue | If "the style" is passing football then I don't have a problem with that statement. However, that doesn't mean that passing football has to be under a 4-3-3 formation, or that during a game we switch to more long balls if its not working. The persistent 433 is meaning Jackson or Sears playing wide. And neither look effective there. They either need to play through the middle or not at all. Thats whats frustrating. Lambert has gone from constant chopping and changing of the systems last year to no change at all. There has to be tweaks during games to adjust to circumstances.

Evans says playing the style we do is “non negotiable” on 12:33 - Jan 10 with 2199 views | Herbivore | There's nothing wrong with playing a passing game and lining up in a 4-3-3, the problem is that we have a manager that has no idea how to make the system or the formation work. If Evans wants us to play this way it's obvious he needs a manager capable of playing this way effectively. All Lambert seems able to get us to do is knock it about slowly at the back. There's no purpose to our possession and his version of a 4-3-3 is really a 4-5-1 to all intents and purposes. Useless.

Evans says playing the style we do is “non negotiable” on 12:46 - Jan 10 with 2140 views | ArnieM | Of course a passing game can be at an over 60’s walking pace football commonly seen at sports centres these days , or t can be a slick, pass and move FORWARDS style of football, or even a passing game that incorporates a variable paced passing game . Frankly it beggars belief that Lambert ( by his own admission) states he’d players at the highest level for some big clubs, yet fails to comprehend the variety of “ passing football” styles that exist in the game . He’s incompetent.

That’s the thing, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Good teams mix it up. Our best moments in the second half were when we went more direct.

Burley's sides played good football but weren't averse to using a direct pass to get us up the pitch either. Very few sides can knock it about and never go direct and be successful, fewer still at our level.

It would also help if our idea of passing football wasn't entirely in our own half.

Open your eyes ME, there's plenty of people that are saying the same things, it's not rocket science. Even the Sky Sports commentators were saying the same as we do on here after about 20mins of last night's game and they rarely watch us. Is it any wonder we aren't going anywhere with this owner?!

Evans says playing the style we do is “non negotiable” on 14:26 - Jan 10 with 1715 views | istanblue | This is the kind of delusion our owner is in. 13 years of failure by a man who knows almost nothing about football and yet he still thinks 'Marcus knows best. When will fans wake up to the fact that Evans is the one dragging us down? Yes, Lambert is a poor manager but the reason he is still here is BECUASE OF EVANS (5 year contract and an utterly deluded take on where we are and should be going as a club).
