Wasn't your argument that the parent/s received benefits so they could provide for their children during holidays? By the same logic they could also send them to school with a packed lunch IF they had enough money to do so. Your argument makes no sense at all. As Badger pointed out, some children only get one hot meal a day and that is at school so that would mean the provision is insufficient. If you take away that hot meal and keep the provision the same then the children are demonstrably worse off.
You can reduce it down to this if it helps with Z being a fully fed child:
X + Y = Z
X = Z - Y
