Quite often, these are the only hot meal the most vulnerable children receive during their day. Are you seriously say that the most vulnerable children in society shouldn't receive a hot meal every day of the year?

Replacement “Free Lunch” boxes that have replaced £30 vouchers on 22:33 - Jan 11 by J2BLUE | Wasn't your argument that the parent/s received benefits so they could provide for their children during holidays? By the same logic they could also send them to school with a packed lunch IF they had enough money to do so. Your argument makes no sense at all. It's not like hunger switches off when kids aren't at school. In fact they are more likely (in normal times) to be active and needing more calories than sitting at a desk for 5 hours a day. |
Yes, my argument was that parents receive adequate provision through other means.

See, you wonder why you get abuse? Clue is in the title. FFS. If you think people are surviving the pandemic well enough that school meals aren’t needed during off term as well, then you’re an idiot. A heartless idiot. I’m a patient man. Seriously Pazzers. You need to get better at empathising. I feel physically sick thinking about all this. And your concern is the fecking name of it.

So why don't you think they should send their kids to school with a packed lunch in term time then? How many stories do you need to hear of parents skipping meals just to feed their kids before you reconsider what is adequate?

As Badger pointed out, some children only get one hot meal a day and that is at school so that would mean the provision is insufficient. If you take away that hot meal and keep the provision the same then the children are demonstrably worse off. You can reduce it down to this if it helps with Z being a fully fed child: X + Y = Z X = Z - Y SB

Replacement “Free Lunch” boxes that have replaced £30 vouchers on 22:34 - Jan 11 by J2BLUE | But the child isn't at school during holidays so they still need the food. £20m a week. Less than £1 per income tax payer. How can you oppose this? The Tories have wasted a fortune in taxpayer money and this is the stand you choose to make? |
Because where does it stop? I get providing meals for kids when they’re at school, great. But when they’re at home? Doesn’t make sense to me, better to give the parents money so they can feed them (I.e benefits). What are we going to do? Take all responsibility away from parents and feed all children 3 meals a day in mass state run canteens until they’re 18?

I think it’s linked to outgoings isn’t it? So it covers rent and then money for food etc? Offset against any income the individual may get? Therefore would be different for different people?

It has replaced a whole host of different benefits. Google universal credit and have a read of what people get and for what. That's IF you care about the facts. If you don't and you want to continue to just repeat the same stuff you're incorrect about then don't bother.

If there was ever an intelligence test for the right to vote implemented, you’d lose your right to vote. Honestly, how can you have ANY opinion on poverty without the basic facts? Imagine getting advice on plumbing from a mate who doesn’t know how plumbing works? Or asking someone who’s never used the internet to build you a website? Mind you, it’s never stopped the Tories hiring policy.

If every decision was fought with such a p1ss poor argument we’d never do anything. Go to space? Where will it stop? Building a Deathstar? Cook dinner? Where will it stop? Chopping my cat up and eating it. Invading the Capitol Building? Where will it stop? A literal fascist coup and murder of government officials? Funny how I’ve not heard you say the last one out loud... [Post edited 11 Jan 2021 23:40]

Barely enough food for 5 days. Can't believe that is for 10 days. Some **** has clearly skimmed as much profit off the top of this as possible. Literally stealing food away from kids. |
Yep, 3 apples for 10 days. It’s criminal. The people apparently skimming off the public money are Compass Group, who’s CEO Dominic Blakemore made £4.7m in the last year declared (2019). Nice money if you can get it 👠And to think loads of people defend this way of operating .

I'd hate to see what state that loaf of bread would be in after 10 days. Is the expectation for the kids to have one slice a day?

You always 'think', but you never 'know'. Yet you always have such strong opinions when it comes to sticking your beak into the lives of poor people. Curious. [Post edited 12 Jan 2021 0:17]

Do they need more? They'll probably be too full from their 37g of yogurt. I assume this is a case of thinking that everyone has a freezer and not particularly caring if they don't. £30 cash where the parent/s could shop as and when needed would be so much better but I guess that doesn't make millionaires richer and god forbid a pound is spent on anything not completely essential.
