Something isn't right somewhere. The R is never usually quoted in such a precise manner because it can't be known in such a way, it's always a range and has been since the start.

So the article says 0.61 in London but the official figures say 0.9 to 1.1. That's a massive difference in how cases would progress.

Point 7 in the methodology quoted by the Mirror:

"Note that the deaths data used are only very weakly informative on Rt over the last two weeks. Therefore, the estimate for current incidence, Rt and the forecast of daily numbers of deaths are likely to be subject to some revision."

It's very interesting, I will have a proper read of the methodology and assumptions when I get time because they are so far off the official numbers one of them has to be wrong. Let's hope these numbers are more correct as that would be excellent news.

Probably not helpful having such a disparity though, there is the small potential that people might only read one set of numbers and relax.
