Will Keane - 5 in 11 for Wigan on 13:49 - Jan 17 with 2948 views | Churchman | Alan Brazil and Paul Mariner in their prime wouldn’t score any goals in the current team with the dross behind them. As for fitness, he’s not the first to raise like Lazarus after prolonged injury and won’t be the last. When KVY and Downes get their moves to clubs that train properly, look after their players and has ambition beyond quietly rotting away at least cost, I’ve no doubt they’ll be ever presents just like McGoldrick has been for two and a half years.

Nydam Will Be Fit Next Month. Also: hasn't been KVY been expected to 'resume training in a month' for about 5 years now?

Exactly it seems like they've been in captivity longer than john McCarthy and Terry Waite! I remember a few weeks ago Mick Mills said serious questions need to be asked regarding our injured players. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I've been saying it for a while now, it goes back to Mick's time, if not before - the length of time out, coupled to frequency of post-rehab breakdown in our players is extremely concerning.

His goal yesterday was very tidy. Back to goal, holding off defenders, played keepy ups a few times then banged it in on the turn

A player that was long injured ruined before he got to us? How was the narrative yesterday when the opposition had a couple of players injured in the 1st half? Only happens to us [Post edited 17 Jan 2021 15:32]

Though nothing one hadn't suspected he was capable of, given the right deployment.

Will Keane - 5 in 11 for Wigan on 15:35 - Jan 17 with 2581 views | TieDyedIn95 | I don't understand why after bringing Keane in, investing in him in, giving him a platform to get fit, and rebuild his career we decided to let him go and bring in Hawkins, who Harrison who we released, replaced in Portsmouth's team. It's classic Ipswich downgrading and making signings for signings sakes that, we've done it for years. Hawkins has been terrible and Bennett's isn't any good either. Jackson, who we are allegedly selling now is better then both of those also. The fact we gave the injured, 35 year old Skuse another contract and released Rowe and Keane who are much younger and were largely more useful to us last season shows how progressive our set up really is. We also signed a slow moving, injury prone, 35 year old Ward and didn't even approach Garbutt, who had been one of our best players last season.

Disagree. I liked Keane to an extent but he was no target man as we needed, which Hawkins is. He's not at all mobile but he wasn't brought in to play every week, he's there for when needed. Rowe was also not at all useful if you ask me.

You’re right, there’s enough anecdotal evidence of it happening here and there to other teams that there’s no way we’ve got an unusually severe degree of problem at all.

And PLs response was we thought he was going to a championship or Premier League club. Something like that. In other words, Lambert and the club didn’t do their homework, didn’t bother to find out, thought they could replace with cheaper or do without. Says it all really.

With hindsight one of the funniest things about the Evans era was when we signed SEB to see if we could get him fit and firing. Like taking a delicate old piece of furniture onto Repair Shop and they go at it with sledgehammers and a flamethrower.

They couldn’t find a shirt big enough to fit round him let alone squeeze him in the Repair Shop. Shame he didn’t play alongside Jimmy Bullard. We could have wedged them in the goal and MMs favourite 0-0 would have been guaranteed. If I’ve mixed SEB up with Ellington, apologies. Another absolute waste of space. Made Lee Chapman look like Nijinsky.

I think it was more that Garbutt thought he as going to get a Championship club. In Town's defence, they could only wait around so long before getting somebody in.
Will Keane - 5 in 11 for Wigan on 20:30 - Jan 17 with 1985 views | Steve_M | He was in similarly good form for us over the same period last year. He had six goals in a few more matches and looked very sharp. How scoring has always been streaky though, after that spell he didn’t look like me remembered how to score. Keane had scored 9 of his 21 career goals for us. [Post edited 17 Jan 2021 20:40]
