There are no excuses now Paul, none. 21:03 - Jan 18 with 2301 viewsMrTown

Promote us or get out of the club. Quite simply the 1/2/3 best squad in this division with the addition of Thomas & Harrop. Outrageous riches at this level, truly scandalous.

Holy
Chambers - Nsiala - McGuinness - Ward
L.Thomas - Bishop - Downes - Edwards
Harrop
Norwood

Subs from:
Cornell, Jackson, Hawkins, Woolfenden, Dozzell, Lankester, Nolan, Judge, Huws, Sears, Drinan, Kenlock, Wilson, Dobra, El Mizouni, McGavin, Bennetts

Think we need a decent left back tbh. Very weak on that side.

We say that, but has Ward let us down? Has he made any glaring errors.

He tries to overlap, he rarely gives the ball away, does the basics well, just looks ageing, but will be more than capable to us through this season.

Look at strengthening in the summer.

It's more if what he doesnt do with the ball for me. Hes so slow and accuracy is terrible. I find him really annoying to watch

There never were any excuses, only ever more pitiful sound bites that even PL doesn’t really believe anymore.
The sooner someone puts a tent around him and summons the on-course vet, the better for everyone, including him.

You could argue injuries this year to influential players.

I rarely rarely listen to his pressers now. A repetitive nature of rolled out shît that is intended to try and bluff the fans. Nothing more than an insult to the fanbases intelligence.

Nowhere to turn if he doesn’t get it right between now and the end of the season.

After starting the season so well, he’s looked his age over recent months. Swindon’s LB is the type of signing we need, especially if we can get KVY back to where he was before his injury on the right flank. We’d have two very dynamic full backs then, with pace and an energy to get forwards.

Indeed, I agree in terms of the future, but given salary cap restrictions, and Ward being liked, recruited and trusted by Lambert, it isn’t going to happen this month.

And Ward is more than capable I believe at this level.

Paul’s excuses: bad luck, big clubs in this league, COVID, injuries, the alignment of Saturn and Jupiter, fixture congestion, lack of supporters in the ground.

The real reason is that in despite playing for Dortmund, Celtic and the inter planetary 11 he has no idea how to put a team together. Not a clue.

No way have we got one of the best squads. Apart from the odd addition. It's the same squad that got us relegated without a whimper, the same squad that were awful last season and the same squad that is pretty awful this season. They ain't all that.

A squad getting relegated from the Championship doesn't mean it's not good enough to get promoted from League 1. 6 of the last 9 sides relegated from the Championship went straight back up at the first attempt, Rotherham have managed it twice in that time. The only sides that didn't finish top 6 at the first attempt were Bolton (in administration), Burton (finished 9th, small club even at this level), and us. The squad Lambert had last season and this season is more than good enough to get promoted from League 1, not because they are world beaters, but because these league is largely utter toss.

We are so blessed to have a right back with the talents of Luke Chambers!

HeHe only teasing, yes I know KVY will replace him WHEN fit.

Not convinced by Ward though, decent start for us, when we were playing the lesser teams of the division, but has struggled these last couple of months (yes I know, so has the whole team!)

Why did the manager sign a kid from Arsenal to play CB so that Chambers could carry on at RB rather than signing an actual right back? That Chambers has played half a season at right back is entirely down to Lambert and it's not like he couldn't have done anything about it.

Guess he was loathe to sign another RB with KVY on the way back, probably didn't expect it to take quite so long to get him match fit!

Probably a bit negligent to assume that a player we haven't seen for 14 months is going to slot seamlessly into your first team, I would've thought.

And if that was the case doesn't explain why we needed another CB because it means Chambers resorts back to CB along with Woolf, Nsiala, Wilson, Ndaba

Both Chambers and Ward are looking their age. Every week a youngster sprints past Chambers and he never catches him. Been a good servant but far too slow.

There is no way Chambers will go to CB once KVY is back!

We can get away with his errors and being skinned out wide, but harder to cover up in the middle of the park.

It'll be a bit part role until the end of the season and then a retirment from playing to focus on coaching going forwards

The imbalance of our squad is ludicrous, really. In almost every position we have three options, 2 senior first teamers and a younger player who's already good enough for this level. Except right back, where we have one out-of-position centre back and a reserve right back who we're trying to offload, who the manager rates so little he'd rather play a left winger. That's before you get to us letting one of the division's current best right backs leave on a free last season.

And all this time, we're playing a system to which attacking full backs are the absolute key!

He'd been out for a year. We didn't need another CB at the time, we needed someone who was a specialist right back.

He'll move back to centre back, of course he will. Our defence was more solid last season with Chambers alongside Woolfie than it has been for most of this season.

On the flip side, McGuinness has become a very decent player for us, the only centre back that is guaranteed a start, so good job he did sign him!!

I think Donacien will leave this month, although personally I'd like to see him given a chance, but when he does go, we may see another RB come in then, on loan.
