Piegate update 20:58 - Jan 20 with 1391 viewshomer_123

Well...the puff pastry topped casserole was OK....though the side of sarcasm and distinctly frosty service has left a rather sour taste to be honest.

She's now not talking to me and currently she's sat with her phone in the kitchen. She's definitely spoken with her mum and I am pretty sure a girlfriend or two has been texted.

It's all gone a bit south over an observation that it wasn't a pie!

However...a note has been left. Apparently I'm cooking dinner tomorrow.

So....TWTD hive mind. What should I be cooking?

But what?

It's the obvious isn't it.....but was wondering if anyone could come up with something different or left field.

Or maybe I could do the same....say I'm gonna cook X but it's actually Y.

Do a suet pudding with onion gravy and really show her what's what.

Failing that, prawn cocktail with iceberg lettuce in a wine glass is the fancy option.

Game pie, real pie obviously, use suet pastry for extra taste.

Or haggis pie, pastry case with haggis then a layer of swede topped with a layer of potato.

First things first, you should text a few girlfriends too. That will help make things better.

Throw a complete curveball.
Puff pastry sides and bottom, casserole filling but no lid. Kind like some weird hybrid tart?

Vegan Vegetable Wonton as a starter. Vegan mushroom Wellington main. Peach Galette for dessert.

During the conversation just drop in the observation, funny how different things partially or fully contained within pastry have different names.

By tomorrow evening, you will probably be relegated to living in the shed.

In which case, you will have to have a BBQ in the garden.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

So he what he needs to do is make one with the mash on the bottom.

Or top and bottom.

Maybe even shove some mash down the sides too to get the message across.

In medieval cookery books (e.g. The Forme of Cury, late 14th century), the pie crust is referred to as a "coffin" and wasn't originally eaten, more used as a means of containing the contents while being baked.

You absolute brute!

The best thing you can do now is try to cook a 'proper' pie (you brute), but muff it up on purpose to demonstrate your abject inferiority (you brute). Then order a posh takeaway. You brute.

You could always get to the supermarket to see if they sell blackbirds. 4 and 20 should be enough.
