The trouble with Mick is that he has a limited shelf life before fans become bored with his football. His style and players he recruits makes it hard for managers after him to do a decent job if they don’t share Mick style. I can’t Cardiff appointing him - he’ll go to a club being threatened with relegation on the championship and will probably keep that team up.

You say that....but I have v fond memories of Reading (A) By stopping in the pleasant nearby village of Theale on the way to the match and having more than several pints of Fullers ESB in The Volunteer, a trad pub in the High St And stopping again on the way home for some more I can't actually remember any of the games ( didn't we draw one 3-3 and all the goals were contentious penalties?) but the whole afternoon passed in the most delightful way

And thanking God, no doubt, that you were not stopped and breathalysed. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

There was the 0-4 away win under Klug. That was a good trip to the Madjeski.

My favourite Reading trip was a 1-4 back in 95 or 96. We scored a couple of great goals on the break. Tore them apart that afternoon. It was pre-Majeski on the open (I think) terrace.

I remember a 4-0 win we had at Elm Park in 1997. In the old claret and green away kit I think... got the train from Reading to Reading West with my old man in the pouring rain. Holland, Scowcroft, Naylor and someone else...

Wait, do people actually consider Mick to be to blame for Hurst absolutely screwing us?
