Cook was Cardiff first choice... 18:05 - Jan 25 with 2270 viewsunstableblue

...but turned down the contract that was end of season only. They then turned to McCarthy.

Reports in South Wales.

At least Cook still in market, but perhaps won't accept drop down??

Still not convinced on Cowley and Cook footballing style/ethos - can be no room for error now Marcus. But both surely better than Lambert, and most definitely personable -which has to be a criteria.

Poll: How many points will Town get from 5 (Wat, Boro, Hull, Cov, Hudd)?

I am sure Cook will be on the radar after the way his Portsmouth team dumped us out of the cup.

Ready! Steady! Cook!

I honestly can’t see Lambert going anywhere until the season is over, so all of these current potential replacements will all be gone.

For the record, I really really hope I’m wrong.

Let's face it

There are 3 Managers available who could do a great job

BUT is Evans smart enough

Paul Cook
Cowleys
Pearson - Although prob unrealistic

I don't know anyone else worth going for.

Reading this, he sounds like his football is a bit 'Mick'...

'Cook has tended to put his trust in a 4-2-3-1 formation during his managerial career, especially over the last couple of years at Wigan. He makes use of a sturdy double-pivot to help protect a traditional back four, with a physically robust defensive structure all-in-all.

The focus is on defending first and going from there, which was particularly successful in the final weeks of last season, in which Cook’s Latics registered 10 clean sheets from the last 14 matches.

Last term, in particular, their play was geared around the out-ball to towering Wales international Kieffer Moore up front. Only Preston and QPR completed more long balls in the Championship last term.

They’re also drilled to be fiercely competitive, which can have its downsides in terms of disciplinary issues: only Wednesday and Birmingham committed more fouls last term, while they were dished out a league-high six red cards, as well as 85 yellows (fourth most).'

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Sounds like Hawkins will be getting a lot of game time and Skusey will have his deal extended!

I read that but it seemed a bit of a weak interview. This one has a totally different view and was written prior to him joining Wigan. The guy being interviewed in that examiner link is almost critical he selected Vaughan and Toney over Will Grigg even though Grigg played quite regularly and banged in a lot of goals.

We're in no position to quibble about the style of football, we need promotion this year. We have to get out of this division as soon as we can. Everywhere he's been he's got teams promoted and recently. If the team's winning games and playing well nobody will care about the style of play.
