Why did he leave Watford? Big bust up with the players was a rumour at the time
Because Watford are a basket case club.
Just read this and it made me laugh...
On 19 July 2020, Pearson was sacked with two games remaining in the 2019—20 season. Watford were seven points adrift at the bottom of the league when Pearson took charge, and three points above the relegation zone when he was sacked.[88][89] Following Pearson's sacking, Watford went on to lose their remaining two games and were relegated.[90]
Am guessing that might have come from my post earlier. A friend of mine worked with him at Leicester and was very impressed with him. Equally he called another friend of mine "an ostrich" at a press conference and another a "bastard" but I think he was going through a tough spell at the time.

I remember the ostrich presser.
He has the look and sound of a man who has killed other men with his bare hands.
However i think we’re getting to the point where the main qualification for the role of Ipswich manager is simply not being Paul Lambert.

Pearson was interviewed before, of course. He was in the driving seat in 2006 before Jim blew Sheepy and Derek Bowden out of the water with his interview. His wife has family in the area.
Pearson Disappointed Not to Get Town Job10th Apr 2012 09:28 Leicester manager Nigel Pearson has admitted he was disappointed not to be named Blues boss when he was interviewed for the role after Joe Royle’s departure in May 2006. Pearson, who was the assistant manager at West Brom at the time, was interviewed by then-Town chairman David Sheepshanks and chief executive Derek Bowden but lost out to retiring Blues skipper Jim Magilton.22

Might well have been, as I say, I'd be surprised, more so from him dropping down to the third tier.
I'm sure you'd take being called an ostrich over being banned!

Think you’re right, think we’ve probably dropped too low for him now, but I’d fancy him to get us moving in the right direction.
Got Leicester out of this God-awful league in his first stint in charge, then, during his second stint, pretty much laid the foundation for their remarkable Premier League title.
Should never have been given the chop at Watford, either. I expect a large percentage of their fans feel the same way about his sacking as many of our fans do about MM leaving us.
He'd certainly be my first choice. However, I just don't see us being able to tempt him here.
