Nigel Pearson 19:47 - Jan 31 with 12513 views | hype313 | Seeing lots of talk on various social media platforms regarding him coming here, or at the very least been spoken too. I've discounted him recently due to the feeling he would want a club in the PL or the very least top end Championship. Would be quite a coup if we were able to land him, should Lambert eventually get sacked at some point this century.

I remember he almost got Leicester relegated the season before they won the title... Also the time he 'pretended' to strangle James McArthur 'for a laugh'. Not for me thanks!

Irrelevant point but your post made me remember this. I was in my local watching Town Vs Charlton and the bloke next to me had done nothing but slag off Noel Hunt's inclusion in the squad that day. The game was pretty much over and then...well you know what happened in the dying seconds. Feck me, look at this quote: "There were a total of 40 efforts on goal in the match" Fecking 40 attempts at goal. Forty! And second in the table: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/30155805 What have we become?

We literally don’t manage 40 goal attempts in a month of games now. Lambert’s anti-football is no-threat football and is killing us.

We only had 19 of them with 6 on target. That’s about 6 games worth at the moment and we are a league lower What a state we are in

I guess would cost more than any of the others linked as well, can't see him ever wanting 5 years at it and really trying to build us which we're crying out for. For me that's why I think Cowley is the one.

To some extent good results change things, but I think some efforts have to be made within the community to engage with fans and potential fans. Currently the club seems to be actively trying to discourage supporters.

No manager whatsoever will get 5 years at it. They'll be gone within 2-3 years like everyone else bar Mick.

That very much depends on whether they're competent like Mick, or incompetent like every ME appointment other than Mick.

Nigel Pearson on 20:11 - Jan 31 by PhilTWTD | Pearson was interviewed before, of course. He was in the driving seat in 2006 before Jim blew Sheepy and Derek Bowden out of the water with his interview. His wife has family in the area. Pearson Disappointed Not to Get Town Job 10th Apr 2012 09:28Leicester manager Nigel Pearson has admitted he was disappointed not to be named Blues boss when he was interviewed for the role after Joe Royle’s departure in May 2006. Pearson, who was the assistant manager at West Brom at the time, was interviewed by then-Town chairman David Sheepshanks and chief executive Derek Bowden but lost out to retiring Blues skipper Jim Magilton. 22 |
No wonder magic got the job. Must have left a foul taste in the mouth though.

Absolutely. PR goes far beyond trying to buy the affections of some fans with the purchasing of a few beers for example. The stuff Town have done over the years regarding community work/visits have not only kept the club relevant locally, but also put a smile on many a face of people in need. Nigel Pearson on 20:05 - Jan 31 by PhilTWTD | Am guessing that might have come from my post earlier. A friend of mine worked with him at Leicester and was very impressed with him. Equally he called another friend of mine "an ostrich" at a press conference and another a "bastard" but I think he was going through a tough spell at the time. |
I remember the ‘Ostrich’ interview - it pretty much coincided with the start of Leicester’s inspired great escape started at the back end of the season prior to them winning the league ( Ranieri was appointed in the close season following Pearson’s departure) As I recall he apologised soon after, and the rest is history. I live near Leicester, and Pearson is fondly remembered for his two spells in charge in which he forged a winning mentality. He’s a combustible character though, and I think he’s smart enough to have Evans sussed for the charlatan he is. Hasn’t he turned us down previously?

There clearly needs to be some sort of wholesale change at the top of the club, not just removing Lambert. The disenfranchisement of fans is on a scale I haven't seen in nearly 40 years of supporting this club. Marcus seriously needs to look at how he can re engage, re energise the fanbase and local community going forward. There is so much love for this club and it's baffling why the club seem to be so distant and put so many barriers up to stop people spending money, buying ST's ect. If I were Evans I start to look at how I could utilise people like Milts and Warky in a greater capacity, build on the goodwill and good nature of us poor suffering souls. Otherwise he runs the risk of losing a generation of fans, when it's already a struggle to attract the next generation. We seriously look like we are at crossroads and depending which juncture we take will decide where this club ends up, at it's current rate, Evans's investment is in danger of being mothballed.

I think that was their first season back in the Premiership and they survived. I maybe wrong but aside from their wonderful owners (everything Evans isn’t) I believe he laid the foundations for Leicester’s stunning success. Anyway, I very much doubt Pearson will be coming here and personally I’m not sure he’d be a very good fit anyway.

Nigel Pearson on 20:18 - Jan 31 by Marshalls_Mullet | I think we have two things in our favour when looking to attract a manager; 1. They know they will get time. 2. They know the owner won't interfere with how the team / club is run. Those aspects will be important to some managers. ...however, they are always trumped by a bigger transfer budget. |
2. They know the owner won't interfere with how the team / club is run Except when it comes to style of play and potentially formation.

Agreed. I think some of these players need waking up. Too cushy for too long. Get rid of the old guard and we may stand a chance with the youngsters showing a bit of respect to a new manager. Pearson would be ideal. It's if he would want to drop to league 1 though. Would be a good project for him, with a club with history.

Nigel Pearson on 20:31 - Jan 31 by PhilTWTD | 3 Any reasonably competent manager should be able to get Ipswich Town promoted from League One (although this could change given the impact the salary cap might have from this summer). |
Surely the salary cap puts a greater emphasis on the Academy? And our Academy has proved itself capable of producing players who England coaches believe to be the best in their age group.
