I mentioned this on the thread the other day, but at the time the deal happened we had Berra and Smith still at the club as left sided CBs and we were in need of a ball playing defender that could play on the right. In that context I can understand why we let Clarke go to make the deal, even though losing him was disappointing. He wouldn't have got game time straight away here as Webster did with the players ahead of him in the pecking order. |  |
